"there's public transportation almost at every corner. there's trolley stations at America plaza across the street from that stop is Santa Fe Depot, there you can catch the green line trolley that will take you to santee, and of course stopping at other stations as well before getting to santee. also at Santa Fe depot, you can take the coaster to oceanside, or take the surf liner to Los Angeles, or catch the Amtrak."
  • Trulia User
"Great neighborhood for dogs! Our guys love it here. They have a lot of friends they see everyday. We get to meet nice people through our pooches too. "
  • Trulia User
"Farmers markets, jazz festivals, beer festivals, and public spaces. Parade access, special events, such as annual sand sculpture competition. "
  • Trulia User
"Always something going on each weekend at the Marina, Parks, Little Italy. They just started Food Truck Wednesdays on B Street. An awesome place to live!"
  • Trulia User
"The farmers market is very close by as if the dog park. It makes it easy to get out and about and meet people. "
  • Trulia User
"The San Diego Bay and the proximity to Petco Park. We love baseball. It’s a growing community, growing restaurants and affluent people. We have a local Catholic Church; Our Lady of the Rosary."
  • Trulia User
"I live downtown San Diego and have been downtown San Diego for the past 3 plus years and I love it outside the emergency vehicles periodically early in the morning or late night waking me out of my sleep. "
  • Trulia User
"The Embarcadero, the water, Petco Park are some of the excitements. But the beauty of the city is the most enchanting. I love downtown San Diego."
  • Trulia User
"Easily one of the most walkable areas in all of Downtown San Diego. East Village has been revitalized with new restaurants, bars, boutique shops and fitness centers. And new developments are ongoing. Close enough to the action (i.e. Gas Lamp, Petco Park, etc) yet just far enough away to come home to a quiet place to relax and enjoy my unit in privacy. Overall a great area to live in to experience a true city lifestyle. "
  • Trulia User
"I like this neighborhood because it's well situated between Little Italy and Gaslamp but its quieter. You don't get the same foot traffic and noise as you do in other areas of downtown SD especially at night. "
  • Trulia User
"Highest crime in San Diego, overpriced small apartments, cocky hipsters living off their parents and homeless people to step over on each corner and sometimes in-between... truly unique. "
  • Trulia User
"This area is overrun with drug dealers, drug addicts, violent convicted sex offenders, a homeless population of aggressive drunk sand drug addicts who use every single doorway of every business as their homes, vomitoriums, toilets and sharps container (disposal for dirty needles). Not to mention all of the "partiers" who treat my neighborhood like their personal toilet and vomitorium. The streets literally run with urine and vomit. Someone actually threw a bucket of fresh human feces on the lobby entrance to our residence. I have personally seen men exposing themselves to children and my wife on several occasions. I have personally had a gun pulled on me, been attacked by a drug dealer as well as drunken weekend warriors. I have also seen people smoking crack and meth in the middle of the sidewalk as early as 6pm, while children were around. The police did nothing. I see hand to hand drug transactions all times of the day and night. From 7th and C to 2nd and C is an open-air drug market. The police in our neighborhood don't even care. They told my wife to her face while I was standing there, that they would not arrest someone unless they raped her. This was from the officer who responded to my call of a man urinating in public, who when asked to stop, got violent with me and shook his genitals at my wife. That's not to say that there aren't cops here that care. Officer Smith and Sgt. Vinson are both outstanding. All in all, this neighborhood is one of the worst in which I have ever lived. I am originally from Detroit (the city of, not the 'burbs) and have lived in some of the worst ghettos in the country. I have also lived in the 9th ward in New Orleans, as well as the French Quarter, and my neighborhood in downtown San Diego takes the cake. My wife and I are currently actively seeking new residence in another neighborhood. It wasn't like this when we moved here just under two years ago. It really went downhill in the past six month."
