4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child does not like the school. She complains of the slow learning pace, especially in math, and that she does not feel it is a safe learning environment. As a parent, the leadership of the principal is concerning. She is primarily concerned with the performing arts and the elementary school. In meetings she had voiced her opinion about wanting more white families to attend and blames the discipline issues on foster children. The learning environment of the middle school appears to be an afterthought. How can 2/3 of the students be on the honor roll and the test scores be as low as they are…grade inflation and low expectations. Many teachers have left with newly certified teachers with a lack of experience taking their place, which is a disservice to the students. Long term subs are also leaving because of the non-supportive leadership.Parent Review11mo ago - Longfellow (Henry W.) Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLongfellow is our neighborhood school, and we've been very happy here. The principal is excellent! She sets a great tone and example for everyone, from teachers to parents to students. My kids enjoy all the weekly "specials" including PE, music, and art. They are also in the dual language program, which is such an awesome opportunity for kids to become fully bilingual. The PTA is active and encourages parent involvement in any capacity. I really appreciate how public schools bring diverse people together in support of a common goal. I'm so glad to be connected to the wonderful, supportive community at Longfellow!Parent Review5mo ago - John Muir High School

"Our street is pretty busy but wouldn’t live anywhere else, been her 42 years and have not had any issues. "

"We live on Glen Ave which is a quiet street with really good neighbors all around. It's much more attractive and well kept than South of Washington or immediately North of Woodbury, although North of Woodbury has been gentrifying extremely rapidly especially since Covid started. There are quite a few churches and a Buddhist temple. This area is very convenient with really awesome supermarkets like Super King and Vallarta that have much better produce options than Vons or Pavilions, which are also nearby. It's extremely quick to get to Trader Joe's as well. You can easily access outdoor and water activities at the Rose Bowl, the arroyo, or Descanso Gardens and there is a 24 hour fitness at Woodbury & Lincoln if you want to stay indoors. The kids from the high school walk home through the neighborhood but they generally behave themselves and it hasn't been a problem. Street parking is easy but guests parking overnight in Pasadena need a $5 permit that you get from a kiosk at the fire station on Fair Oaks."

"Some people like to speed on the street. So it’s good to just keep a safe distance when crossing the street"

"Most dogs are enclosed so it's a good place to walk your dogs around the block. Also, there is always people so your dog would get used to being around people. "
