Description

This property is not currently for sale or for rent on Trulia. The description and property data below may have been provided by a third party, the homeowner or public records.
This warm and inviting 1930s vintage home features seamless in/outdoor entertaining spaces in a serene private setting w/plenty of places to play and explore. Equipped with four bedrooms and three full bathrooms, lush garden views on all sides and with a nearly one-acre lot, it feels quite secluded.

The house is located very near the Orinda Park Pool, just a 10 minute walk from the Orinda Village and Country Club, and a 3 minute drive from the freeway and BART (we would walk to BART). It's difficult to find a better location in the Orinda, Lafayette, and Moraga areas (often called "Lamorinda").

A few notes about the house:

As you'll see in the photos the rooms are generously sized. The floors are primarily hardwood and carpet, and the fixtures and finishes are in nice condition. The house has large living and dining rooms (our current dining room table seats 14). For bedrooms, three are quite generously sized, while the fourth bedroom is on the smaller side. The house is largely restored/original, but has been updated in all the important places (Kitchen, bathrooms, appliances (high efficiency furnace, water heater, slate refrigerator and slate high powered gas range are just a few years old)). There is ample interior storage (cedar closets, pantry, etc), it's really a very comfortable home.

In this age of Zoom and work-from-home, the house is well equipped. AT&T fiber optic is available, with gigabit internet speed available (Comcast is also available at the house). It's also possible to close the kitchen off from the rest of the house if another workspace is needed.

The garden & lawn around the house are fully fenced, which makes this a great place for young children to enjoy the outdoors. The laundry room is quite large, and offers substantial storage and work areas. The driveway offers ample parking space (we have had 10 cars parked), and there is plenty of overflow street parking. There is lots of "wild" space in our large yard uphill from the house, which adds to the feeling of being "out in the woods". If you want to be close to the city, but feel like you're out in the country, this is a great place.

Garden & lawn maintenance is included.

A bit about Orinda: We are just on the other side of the Berkeley / Oakland Hills, one BART stop past Rockridge (21 minutes to SF by BART), and a 15-20 minute drive from Downtown SF(outside of rush hour). On this side of the hills, we generally enjoy warmer weather than our bay-side neighbors, while mostly avoiding the stifling heat of towns further to the east.

Orinda is a haven for families, and has great parks, fantastic schools, a great library, and more. There's a nice selection of local shops and restaurants, and we can't forget the city's crown jewels: the beautifully restored Orinda Theater, and the fantastic 30's vintage "Casa Orinda" restaurant.

The house is available immediately, however we are flexible with respect to move-in date for the right tenant. Monthly rent is $6,000.00. A $12,000 Security deposit is due at lease signing.

No smoking is allowed. Pets may be permitted, subject to an additional deposit, depending on the type.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Landlord pays for gardener service, landscaping is on automatic sprinklers. Tenants pay all utilities, and are responsible for inside upkeep and maintaining cleanliness of exterior patios and walkways.

"No sidewalks makes it tough to get out with little kids and even bigger kids riding bikes is difficult. In general super safe, the roads are narrow and very curvy probably the least safe thing for kids is walking to and from the bus stop. "

"25 years in this community. Deer and raccoons drink from my pool. I have no concern leaving my doors unlocked.....though I don’t as a precaution."

"Lived here for 12 years now. We love Orinda's almost rural feeling, with great access to BART and therefore San Francisco, Oakland, and everywhere else it goes to. Families in our neighborhood tend to stay put. Some homes are occupied by 2nd generations, and the couple 3 doors down form us have been there since the 1950s. Very peaceful, quiet, safe."

"It’s beautiful, quiet, and private. I’ve lived here for about 20 years. The houses are all unique and gorgeous. There are lots of trees, you almost feel like you’re living out in the country instead of in the middle of a sprawling metropolitan area, just on the other side of the Caldecott tunnel from Oakland. While you definitely can’t walk to the grocery store, Safeway is a pretty close drive and there are shops and restaurants right at the bottom of the hill. My favorite part of living here is close proximity to grizzly peak and Tilden and Sibley parks. The steam trains and merry-go-round are fantastic for young children, and there are excellent hiking trails with views of the bay. "
