While the school had quite promising programs to offer, the strict dress code which is outdated by two decades and can be inflexible for plus sized students. The support staff do not adhere to the dress code to serve as an example for the students to follow, which is hypocritical. Communication between school staff and families are either robotic boiler language, ineffective, or none at all. School safety has been a huge concern on campus, yet families are left in the dark. While we love the opportunities provided, we are sadly disappointed that we have to rely on our children to communicate the recent safety issues: fights, trespassing, threats to school safety, etc. These should've come first hand from the staff. It’s very upsetting to notify families that students must maintain a minimum 96% attendance throughout their stay at Nobel in order to graduate and walk (during their final year.) This information should've been clearly communicated when students first started their stay, not their final year. Yes, we would recommend it for the programs it offers. Some of teachers and support staff are fantastic! But proceed with caution, so you won’t be surprised or blindsided.

Great school, except the fact that there is only one bathroom open at a time EVER and There are 10 boys in there at a Time.

Calahan is a fantastic school. Teachers, parents and alumni all speak well of it. My daughter loved her teacher and this school. She learned so much

Cleveland is an amazing high school! My son just completed his freshman year and I am impressed with the positive social interactions he has had, the consistent motivation he had thanks to his dedicated CORE teachers, and the rigorous, but engaging curriculum covered. The school feels safe and warm to both my son and to myself. The teachers are truly invested in getting to know their students as individuals and this helps them feel important and seen. It also results in the building of a strong school community with lots of positive connections among the student body and staff. Beyond academics, my son was also heavily involved in the outstanding music program under the direction of Mr. Yassaman. The marching band won the LAUSD City Championship and both the concert and jazz bands earned superior ratings at their competitions throughout the year. More than anything, the kids involved in the music program had a built in family and the ongoing development of responsibility and commitment to a group. All in all, I am thrilled that my son is a part of Cleveland Charter High School and having an outstanding high school experience!

I really like this school because it is diverse and I felt very welcome at this school
