3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy time at Highlands High School was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I cannot fathom how this institution continues to function as an educational establishment, given the deplorable conditions and lackluster approach to academics and student well-being.First and foremost, the facilities at Highlands High School are utterly appalling. The classrooms are dilapidated and poorly maintained, with leaking roofs and faulty heating systems. The school's so-called "technology" is ancient, often malfunctioning, and severely limited in its capabilities. It's as if the administration couldn't care less about creating a conducive learning environment for its students. The teaching staff is equally disappointing. Many of the teachers lack passion, dedication, and, most importantly, the ability to effectively impart knowledge to their students. Instead of inspiring minds, they seem to be going through the motions, ticking boxes without any regard for the actual education of their pupils. Grading is inconsistent, and constructive feedback is practically non-existent.Furthermore, the extracurricular activities and sports programs are laughable. The school barely offers any options for students to explore their interests and talents outside the classroom. The few clubs that do exist are poorly organized, poorly attended, and seem like mere tokens to maintain the illusion of a well-rounded education. What's worse is the evident lack of support for students facing academic or personal challenges. The guidance counselors are unresponsive and fail to provide adequate guidance in navigating the tumultuous teenage years. It's distressing to see students who need help the most being brushed aside or ignored altogether. One of the most significant problems with Highlands High School is its alarming lack of attention to bullying and overall student safety. Instances of bullying are rampant and go largely unchecked by the staff. This toxic environment hampers the learning experience and negatively impacts the mental and emotional well-being of vulnerable students. Moreover, the administration's communication with parents is abysmal. They seem to operate in a secretive bubble, leaving parents clueless about important school matters and events. It's a disservice to both students and parents, who deserve to be actively involved in their child's educational journey.I would go on but This review system is limiting me to a certain number of characters.Other Review7mo ago - Sierra View Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child just promoted last year and had an absolutely incredible experience at Sierra View Elementary School. The teachers are incredible and so helpful in enriching my daughter's education. The principal who came a few years ago is absolutely amazing. Great problem solving skills, very personable, creative, and full of school spirit. When they did the parade during COVID, my daughter was absolutely ecstatic to see the principal and all her teachers! The office staff is so helpful, I needed some help with my registration and they were so kind and patient with me. This last year she had Mrs. Ripley and she was so supported in her academics, would highly recommend. She's a tech queen, my daughter was really engaged in her schoolwork more than ever and this is all thanks to her. There was talk of shutting Sierra View down recently, and I really really hope that doesn't happen so more kids can have a great experience!Parent Review2y ago - Creative Connections Arts Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had two kids go through the program at CCAA and it was a GREAT experience for them and our family. They made quality life-long friends at this school and developed great relationships with their teachers. The many things they were taught have carried them on into their budding adult lives. This school is full of fun, family friendly activities throughout the year. Students have 15 hours of community service to provide each year and parents are asked to do 30 hours toward the school, and with all of the activities and events throughout the year, it's nothing to get them done. The students are not "picked" so you end up with normal, regular kids with normal, regular problems like you see at every school. The bigger difference is that the school is smaller so there is less nonsense. If you're looking for a place where you can be involved in your kids' school, this place is GREAT!Parent Review10mo ago - Check out schools near 7217 Delhaven Way.

"In the area which I live, Hillsdale near I-80, which technically borders on North Highlands the streets are busy, dirty, littered with trash etc. There is only one major park in the area (Robert Frost Park) and I’ve nears many people let their dogs run off-lease here. I personally never walk my dog in this neighborhood, which is sad. Fortunately; he’s little and old and has a good sized yard to run around in so he gets enough exercise. But I’d like to feel like walking him in my neighborhood would be safe and pleasant, but honestly I don’t."
