6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGifted Magnet Program Great school , love all of child’s teachers . They have teaching long term at this school and are very dedicated. Love they have sports and and excellent music program. My only complaint about this school is the occurrence of fights during breaks/ lunch .My child had never seen a physical altercation until she started attending Palms. She has now grown accustomed to the daily altercations. The staff try their best to prevent / minimize the fights but some of these kids just don’t care. Many children are also from out of the area and are bused here . There seems to be so much going on . Overall I love the curriculum, teachers, and gifted program. But if they could do away with the excessive fights it would be perfectParent Review2mo ago - Canfield Avenue Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTransferred my child out of there. Some teachers great, others SO haughty and unhelpful. Very bad vibe. Principal outright rude and unhelpful as noted in other reviews. I assumed she was overworked as an LAUSD employee but was told by those on the "inner circle" that she's just as dismissive with them. ZERO help working thru issues with a child needing an IEP. Felt gaslit there because there was so much "isn't Canfield GREAT and we're such a family" when in reality, like 5 parents run the school because the office does NOTHING.Parent Review6mo ago - Alexander Hamilton Senior High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter loves Hami. She is in AMPA, the music school. And plays sports. The kids she has met are nice and fun. Teachers are experienced and involved. School is challenging but not too much homework. Administration cares about the kids and takes safety seriously. Lots of staff on campus. My kid likes the Block class schedule: you take 7 classes rather than standard 6. And it makes the week more interesting/always changing. It's just feels like a fun place ...w lots of student-run clubs and music / bands in the quad at lunch etc.Hami is not our home school, but the drive is worth it.Parent Review6mo ago - Check out schools near 9315 Alcott St #203.

"Some dog owners don’t pick up after their dogs is one. Second, the streets here are not really well maintained. The trashcans are tipped over. Sometimes my dog eating something already. Its not safe to have trash around and it looks dirty like that"

"love it perfect location ! i feel very safe in this area as a woman, it’s a lot of people on foot walking and running. Just a cool place !"

"Very quiet neighborhood despite being so close to a main street. We lucked out finding this little hidden gem in Mid City. Not all of it is this nice, but when it is, it’s amazing!"

"I love the markets, places of worship, walking together with my friends. Overall, the restaurants are very good - stopping in with friends or family for Pizza, and the last minute run at the grocery markets! "

"It’s a safe zone just need to be careful on cars rushing on the street during peak hours where by the do not stop "
- Trulia User

"It’s a great place for families. Neighbors are nice. The streets are narrow though, and a lot of people don’t drive very well over here. Lots of mini vans and big vehicles trying to go by each other and it can be very frustrating how people will just stop in the middle of the street and force you to drive around their big vans and cars. "

"Quick 20-minute drive to Santa Monica and the beach. Great location for those who work on the west side."

"It’s clean, and although it’s probably way less fun for the dog, compared to Hollywood, because you don’t have to worry about your dog deciding to eat random chicken wings found laying in the sidewalk. There is one skunk in the neighborhood but I’ve only seen it at come out at night and I keep my distance but yeah something to keep in mind if you think you’re dog might attack it and then get sprayed.
