This is a reason parents who cannot afford any other choices to send their children, are harassed, and ridiculed because of their LOW LOW incomes. There is no PUBLIC School Bus available to Students to Attend this school, and Students must utilize City of LA Bus system where many must walk long City Blocks to a Bus Route to Board any City Bus and must walk City of San Pedro neighborhoods to find and obtain other City Bus to return to their Parents homes.Those students with Parents that have above average incomes often drive their children to this School.Parent Review1y ago - Leland Street Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been attending this school since kindergarten and is now in the 4th grade. In the 5 years that my child has attended this school they’ve been placed in the magnet program and is excelling according to the staff and has been recommended for GATE testing. However not all teachers have prepared my child for their success. I’ve only been pleased with her 1st and 2nd grade teacher on how they prepare the students daily for the curriculum. Most of the other teachers believe in sending the kids home with packets wether it be weekly or monthly to have the students complete with no clear guidance on what to focus on and given the proper training on how to solve certain problems. Even after asking the teachers if the students have gone over the problems in class the response is always not just yet and we expect the students to struggle until we are able to review that particular assignment. As a concerned parent this school doesn’t seem like a system of learning more like just going through the motions. I’ve had to teach my child multiple assignment that were assigned as homework before the teacher was able to go over the assignment in class.
