N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love Richard Riordan and are so grateful to have our son at the school. This is his 3rd year and every one of his teachers has been incredible. The campus is very small, and class sizes are smaller. The teachers clearly care a lot and the classrooms show it. They communicate through ClassDojo almost daily so I feel very included in what's being taught. Principal Gonzales is the the kind of principal you imagine in a storybook, he's animated, so caring, incredibly involved, and invested. He makes all of his announcements in 3 languages fluently, and makes sure everyone is engaged. The campus is also really well kept and very secure.Parent Review1y ago - Luther Burbank Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo far, I like this school a lot. They let you get lunch more than 1 time and have different choices for lunch. The garden is nice and the teachers are also nice. At first I thought my math teacher Mr. Morse would be mean but he's a funny and understanding teacher. My grade went from a D in math to a C from tutoring. My grades are good but my pe teacher isn't very understanding. My mom tells me to not run if I can't because of my asthma but my pe teacher makes me run another lap if I even walk a little. Recently, after even a short lap I've been feeling nausea but my pe teacher doesn't care. My English/history teacher let's us go to the garden after a lot of work, I'd say she's a good teacher. Over all, this school's good.Student Review3mo ago - Benjamin Franklin Senior High School

"The school system needs to improve a bit ...mixing the different background, socioeconomic is important. It will change in few years . "

"It has less congestion than the west side during the day especially rush hour. Therefore I tend to stay in this neighborhood and continue to make it feel more like home. "

"There are pockets of unsafe areas that are somewhat easy to spot. Other than those areas you’ll be safe. "
- Alejandra V. B.

"The anual parades, Christmas and car shows, the farmers markets. Annual music events. Need to have a 4th of July fireworks show"
- Crystal F.
- Resident

"There are sidewalks. However, many dog owners leave their dogs in their front fenced yards which leaves them overly aggressive & can be quite uncomfortable when walking your dogs, especially if you have small dogs and a huge aggressive pit bull tries to jump through their fence. I see why the neighborhood has received the nickname “Highland Bark.” While this treatment of dogs is inhumane, it also lends to an uncomfortable stroll with your furry friends. In addition, apparently “illegal” doesn’t seem to apply to fireworks in this neighborhood. They’re pretty much a year round event here and several months leading into July you’ll hear nightly fireworks which traumatize most dogs. Just being real. This isn’t an ideal dog neighborhood unless you don’t care about your dog. "

"Several young families in the neighborhood, ranging in socioeconomic backgrounds. Kids are often heard and seen playing in their yards. Sometimes there is sidewalk chalk art."
- Katherine F.

"Easy enough. Small, old streets and lots of pedestrians so it’s important to drive slow. It’s mostly residential and very hilly so everything takes a bit of time. "
- Erica R.

"People don’t pick up after their dogs and it’s upsetting as it’s such a great neighborhood. Some people have their dogs sleep outside which you can hear barking. "
- Katherine K.
- Resident

"The local artists’ events are what really make it special...from No WiFi at the Hi Hat or mariachi music at the first Friday art fair. It’s especially fun when the Bob Baker puppeteers bring their marionettes across the street to the park for the kids to enjoy."
- Cindy W.

- Sandy M.
