5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was a student at this school and overall the experience was horrible. The teachers and administration are incapable of performing their jobs. I feel really sorry for the kids that go to this school, there is a real need for mentors and leaders to inspire students in this particular community but unfortunately this school governed by a bunch of incompetent buffoons that have no business teaching or running a school, the staff is confrontational and ineffective at handling their jobs or if problems should arise, the teachers don't really care about the student's education but rather just getting their paychecks, taking care of business in the "hood" and scurrying back to their houses in the westside.Parent Review7y ago - James A. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGoing to this school was a terrible experience. No one helps you in what you need. The college center is out of order and don't really help students who want to pursue careers such a art, theatre, etc. This school is very sports heavy that they fund it to much than the other activities.Student Review5y ago - Marianna Avenue Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOh come on, people! I attended this school for seven whole years (from Kinder. to 6th Grade.) I'm in 8th Grade now and I have to say Marianna was awesome! I don't know what you people are talking about! Maybe if you would've kept your kid in the school, you may have realized that it's better than you think. It's academics may be a bit low, but i don't see a problem w/ a 792 API, for an elementary, that's awesome! Plus, I was in the Gifted Program and I got Advanced on the CSTs every year. I know Marianna. The teachers are great, especially Mr. Martinez, Mrs. Ron, and every other teacher there. Just because it's in East LA, it doesn't mean you have hate. That's all I have to say...Goodbye.Other Review10y ago - East Los Angeles Renaissance Academy At Esteban E. Torres High No. 2

What Locals Say about Los Angeles

"Limited sidewalks and street lighting at night. I rarely walk or stroll around in the area and drive everywhere. A few restaurants and a coffee shop is walkable, about 15 minutes on near Wilshire."

"Car traffic due to alt freeway entrances has become dangerous for walking or biking. Some vandalism exists. "

"I grew up here, and it feels very much like home. The traffic is minimal, there’s both high and lower end shops, and it’s incredibly safe and quiet."

"Venice is unique and eclectic with wonderful restaurants and a fun nightlife. It’s a great place for young people. "

"Very walkable streets and high dog population neighborhood. Lots of people out walking in the evenings on a nice day, many with baby strollers, dogs or both."
- Adam Harman

"We moved to this neighborhood as a predominate work-from-home location. It’s a good community with lots of lot space where even in heavy commuter traffic you can get to the west side in ~45 mins. This feels especially satisfying compared to further out communities that people go for similar space but require 1-1.5 hour commutes each way."
- Adam Harman

"Neighborhood has yearly events, such as a holiday get together and the area draws a lot of people for Halloween festivities. There’s a number of young families that have come into the area in the past couple years and there’s good above average interaction and playtime amongst them, compared to other areas of Los Angeles from experience."

"I mostly commute by car or bicycle. There are glstretts with sidewalks and many trees, quite area to walk with dogs. Also, Lake Balboa and VNSO within 10min drive. I like Sherman Oaks "

"A few good parks for dogs at the periphery of the neighborhood, many dog lovers. However sidewalks disappear at critical moments making walking with a dog treacherous and there's some big dog phobia here (same as many parts of LA) "

Huge dogs everywhere and doesn’t feel the safest. Pretty dirty and unmaintained. Closest grocery store is a food for less which is dirty and not where I would want to buy my groceries."
