3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our "neighborhood school" that very few neighborhood kids go to. We permitted into the "much better" Palms Middle School only to find daily fights, bullying, and a general lack of attention from staff. Webster has 1/3 the enrollment of Palms (and less than half of Mark Twain) so the staff can be more attentive. The principal, Ms Bell, as well as the Assistant Principals and Dean are standing in front of the gates in the morning to welcome kids, reminding parents of happenings at the school, and building relationships with the students and parents. My kid, who never feels safe, feels safe there. Teachers have been in constant communication and reply to emails and texts (yes, they give out their cell phone numbers) and schoology is constantly updated so we always know what is going on. While the test scores do not show it, the opportunity to learn is absolutely there. Even by LAUSD standards this school is a bit dated. I'm guessing it is because enrollment is low and LAUSD funds are spent on... other priorities. I bought into the neighborhoods opinion of Webster "not being an option". We didn't even consider it when considering middle schools. We got caught up in the WISH, GALA, CWC, charter school application process then permitting to ANY other school close by and didn't give Webster a fair shot. I'm now kicking myself for not sending my kid here from the start of middle school. If you live in the neighborhood do yourself and your child a favor and give Webster genuine consideration. Don't take my word for it, stop by at pick up time and chat up a few parents. I have no doubt you'll hear the same from them.Parent Review7mo ago - Alexander Hamilton Senior High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter loves Hami. She is in AMPA, the music school. And plays sports. The kids she has met are nice and fun. Teachers are experienced and involved. School is challenging but not too much homework. Administration cares about the kids and takes safety seriously. Lots of staff on campus. My kid likes the Block class schedule: you take 7 classes rather than standard 6. And it makes the week more interesting/always changing. It's just feels like a fun place ...w lots of student-run clubs and music / bands in the quad at lunch etc.Hami is not our home school, but the drive is worth it.Parent Review6mo ago - Marvin Elementary School

What Locals Say about Mid City
- Paul N Caporaso
- Resident

"Diversity and architecture are both very important aspects of the neighborhood. There are great small businesses as well, especially along Pico. Needs safer streets though as cars speed all the time and the area is pinch point for several main boulevards. "

"Parents need to be vigilant even if this is, relatively speaking, a safe neighborhood. Still, lighting is spotty in places. Carrying flashlights and moving in small groups are both good ideas for evenings"

"Holiday events and block parties make this a nice and special neighborhood. It feels like a safe environment and people are generally friendly and neighborly."

"The neighborhood is okay. Neighbors are not very neighborly. Close to Larchmont Village. I enjoy going there and going to the Farmers Market on Sunday or people watching. "

"This neighborhood has lots of free campsites for homeless residents. The general lack of parking spaces also makes parking a fun adventure that can last hours."

"The HPOZ in Miracle Mile is great, but walking on main sector streets right now is not very pleasant due to LAs rampant homelessness issue. "

"A lot a families in this neighborhood. A lot of crime too. I don’t feel unsafe but I would let my kid play by himself here."

"My commute is fast to almost all areas of LA. I feel safe saying that it takes 15-30 minutes driving to and from the west side / Santa Monica / Venice, east side, downtown LA and the valley. It’s very convenient for almost all areas. "

"There’s a lot of dogs around and there’s even an eco friendly dog wash in the neighborhood. At times there are dogs roaming off leash and random cats around but not a big deal I guess. I don’t own a dog so I’m not to sure what dog owners are looking for. "

"I don’t have a daily commute atm but mid-City is literally in the middle of the city, making most LA proper destinations within easy driving distance. "

"Miracle Mile is quieter than other mid-City neighborhoods, and crime is relatively low, but it’s still Morgantown to be vigilant and mindful of drivers going too fast, even on block with speed bumps."
- Jennaobando27

"It’s walkable and accessible to a lot of public parks nearby. It’s not too loud and overall a peaceful neighborhood."

"It’s very Peaceful and quite and there’s a lot of shopping centers near by to shop. Also healthy options as well. "
- Isabelle M.

"People walk their dogs all the time and at all hours of the day. Women will walk their dogs by themselves at night in the neighborhood, and it's safe! If you have a dog, this is a great area for walks."
- Jhowler
- Resident

"Residents are respectful of dog owners, as long as dogs are on leashes and their owners clean up after them, both of which are true the majority of the time, at least since I’ve been living here. Barking dogs can be an issue, with some residents allowing their pets to “express” themselves for longer than they shouldbefore calming them. This is my only dog related complaint."
- Kimberface
- Resident
- 3y ago
"There are many families in this neighborhood. There are a couple of mediocre parks nearby. I don't think the neighborhood is necessarily the safest place but it's not the most dangerous by any means either. Midcity lands in the middle across the board. "
- Nils T. S.

"it is a nice community of property owners that really care about their community. Friendly. always says Hi. Not a lot of homeless freaks. Feels safe at all times. "

"I grew up in this neighborhood and raised my kids here. It’s not perfect but a nice L.A. neighborhood. "
- Yoch91

"Not many community events. There doesn’t appear to be a lot of community interaction or pride for mid city. Just very nice location for being central to all the fun destinations."
- Wendy C.
- Resident

"Close to many restaurants and museums. Not a long drive to get downtown. Some Block parties happen nearby"
- Neda Z.

"Lots of grass and friendly neighbors. People from outside the neighborhood come here just so they can walk their dogs. It’s lovely!"
