4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school handles bullying by telling the child being bullied to go on independent study. Some of the teachers WILL NOT help students when the students ask them for help. The staff is unprofessional in that they gossip about one student to another student. I wish I could put my children in a different school. I will not be able to forgive the staff for all that they have done, or not down.Parent Review5y ago - Joe Walker Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFood for thought... students can't join a particular sport - Via auto phone dialer - "All students must maintain a 4.0 with no “F’s” and have 80 merits toparticipate." How do the students know how many merits they've earned? How do they "earn" them? So my child earns Bs and an occasional C can't participate in a certain school sport and have to wait until high school? Several teachers giving students lunch detention for forgetting their planner- Can't they get a warning first, like a job gives you a warning for something? Maybe call home and see what the problem is? Maybe the kid went to their other parent's house and accidently left it there "when working on homework" and now the student(s) get lunch detention daily for not having it. Wow. I'm hearing from my kid that some teachers talk down and are disrespectful to some students, making them recoil and not want to speak up or ask for help, or make them feel stupid because they didn't understand something. This is not motivating, respectful, or supportive, and then forgetfulness is sometimes met with punishment. They are still learning and adjusting to a variety of new and extra responsibilities, social dynamics, multiple classes, only a (4) minute passing period which is not enough time to use the restroom and make it to class (getting marked TARDY/a punishment), etc.. Yes, hopefully they will have it down by the time they get to high school. Yes, some students have more obstacles and family dynamics to overcome just to succeed. However, this is the time when parents "lose" their kids. This is the BEST time to be more helpful, supportive, and sensitive, before you (education/educators) lose them...Parent Review7mo ago - Valley View Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've had nothing but issues with their dismissal. Has to be the worst organization I've ever experienced, it's a complete joke. Kids wander off daily, and their excuse, "we just have so many children to release". Direct from a teacher I complained to. I told her my son had been walking to the other side of the school for 2 weeks because that's where I park. "It's the first time I catch it", so for 2 weeks he went unnoticed. 2Nd grade kid, smh, I've never complained about a school so much as I have with this one. Very disappointed, and my youngest just started kindergarten, already considering taking both to another school. With every issue I've had and complained to someone I've gotten no valid excuse, only apologies. I want the issue corrected, I'm tired of apologies. Other than their dismissal disasters,I guess they have somewhat of a bully problem. Both my sons have complained about other classmates pushing them or grabbing them. What is the point of raising my sons right and being respectful if they're going to be disrespected themselves? There's only so many times they can tell the teacher before I have to tell them to defend themselves, which is exactly what I've been telling them to do.It has been the worst school my boys have ever attended.Parent Review8y ago - Gregg Anderson Academy

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExcellent school! The principals are amazing and do their absolute best to know each and every child individually. The teachers care about their students and make themselves easily available to contact them if ever I had a comment, question or concern. The school promotes school spirit and unity and is extremely clean and well kept. I feel safe sending my student there and feel that she is receiving a great education.Parent Review3y ago - Check out schools near L8 Avenue Pav Vic 23 St W.
