4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would not recommend that any child attend this school. This school is unsafe and dangerous for children, as there is no punishment for bullying. We are new to this area, and my 7th grader was assaulted in the bathroom during PE by a student much larger than him. My son reported it to the counselors and principal and they did nothing. He was afraid to return to school because they would not suspend or expel the student who attacked him. In the end, we had to homeschool our child for the rest of the school year. When we mentioned not bringing our child back to school, the principal (Seana Condit) was only concerned about him missing state testing. 3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy twins have attended East Ave. since kinder and this school has been such a blessing for my sons. The teachers, staff, (Ms. Nikki/Mr. Nahal), and Principal Mr. Wilson are truly amazing and dedicated to each of the students. My sons are special needs in a mainstream class and at times have needed extra support and I have always left a meeting or event knowing East Ave. had my sons best interest for success at hand. We will miss East Ave. next year as my son's move on and just wanted to Thank East Ave. for such a great time building authentic genuine relationships we have made over the years. If you want a school that cares, offers opportunities, and supports your child's success, consider East Ave. Getting up the hill is well worth the walk, bus, or drive.Parent Review2y ago - Hayward High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth my children have excelled at Hayward High. My daughter is now entering her sophomore year at UC Berkeley and my son is definitely UC bound. Their AP program is excellent and prepped my daughter well for the academic curriculum at Berkeley. "Neighbors are friendly and kind, it is very safe to walk around and there is a good sense of community. Love this area so conveniently located and it is close to BART, restaurants and shopping centers. I totally recommend it!"

"I have been living here for 22 years. I raised my daughter in this house. I love my neighborhood. It is a quiet & clean court, only one way in & out. We all greet each other & treat each other with the utmost respect. I am especially close to my neighbors across the street. We all look out for each other. "

"Typical suburban area, but we like that it is quiet, close to downtown, BART & freeways. Easy access to 580, 92 and 880 via A St, Winton or Jackson. close to Don Castro Lake. VAL'S BURGERS!!!!"

"We live on D St. which is a highly congested street. It has lulls of quiet but mostly noisy. Definitely triple pane windows are a must. San Felipe park and Sulphur Creek nature center are nearby. This is a plus. Downtown is about a mile away. About three miles away are hiking trails which we use about once a week. There are a lot of walkers, joggers and bicyclist using D St. As far as community there is a network of neighbors that keep an eye on their block and report questionable activity. We've lived here twenty years and have no plans of moving."

"In the center of downtown Hayward, we are close to everything we need. Love the farmer's market, restaurants and theater area! My kids can walk to the playground and libary. Debbi"
