7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePoor communication and transparency. Summit intermediate administration failed to notify parents that they canceled their intramural sport after school program due to wind. Which is understandable. What’s not understandable is how they cannot send out an email or notice to parents. When they can send out an email for fundraisers and testing and everything else to parents throughout various hours of the day and night. I showed up to the school and not seeing my kids in the spot I pick them up in after intramural sports is heartbreaking and frightening. This school and its administrators need to have better communication with parents in making sure we know when sports/activities are canceled bc not everyone child has a cell phone and shouldn’t put that responsibility on children. I’m very disappointed in their lack of professionalism and care for their students and parents.Parent Review1y ago - David W. Long Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI believe the teachers and staff want the students to succeed since they are the future generation. However, just recently I experienced a different view when the principal refused my child's teacher to sign the permission slip for my employer's event to bring your child to work day. I guess they are more concerned of the number of students that attend because, it would affect the attendance record if they allow my child to spend a day with me at work. This is a good school, I was just baffled to hear the reason why the teacher wouldn't sign the permission slip. No worries though, I believe my child would love the experience of it. Consider it like a career day.Parent Review6y ago - Check out schools near 4843 Brookside Ave.

"I have lived here since 2017 and I absolutely love this neighborhood. It's quite, friendly, safe and very child friendly. There is never any crime and you hardly ever hear emergency sirens. Every single neighbor has been wonderful and polite except one. "

"Best place to live in DC. It’s a beautiful neighborhood that is urban but not downtown. It’s all about the park and trail, tons of restaurants, things to do, grocery stores, markets, bar. Has its own metro in easy walking distance and a trail that connect you to the east side of the city. "

"NoMa Bid has been creating a huge sense of community in Eckington and NoMa. For one they keep the area so clean and you always see their workers sweeping the sidewalks, changing trashing, maintenance at the dog park. And then there’s the events, most at the A.T. Park and the MBTrail. Movie in the park, farmers market, holiday events like pumpkin patch/contest, and of course the mural walls festival. The trail and park have beautiful murals everywhere and each year local artist renew most of them. (NoMa in Color). Also the dog parks is a big vibe in the area, Eckington Dog Park is the best in the city, but there are 4 in the area. Also, Bouldering Project is a cool bouldering and fitness gym. Theres tons of grocery, restaurants, bars and beer gardens, etc. it’s surround by Union Market, Brookland, Shaw, H Street… all connect my the MBT (bike/walk trail) and NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station (subway). "20 minutes to town, one can go through downtown 25 mph or there are other roads through the countryside that have no lights and higher speed limits to get to the other end of town. 30 min to Carson City. One hour to Reno"
