7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePomelo is a WONDERFUL community of teachers, staff, students, and parents. Teachers go above and beyond to create a fun and rigorous academic environment. The staff is friendly and communicative. The PTA works tirelessly to raise funds for so many special programs and events at Pomelo. Their efforts in raising money go towards every student having: music, art, PE, computer, gardening, science lab, and library. Additionally, aside from the normal Beyond the Bell, YMCA, and Star Nova after school programs, Pomelo offers: Cheer, orchestra, hula, Spanish classes, and an award winning robotics club. It’s a little hidden gem.Parent Review2mo ago - George Ellery Hale Charter Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child attends Hale Charter Academy and there has been such an improvement this year (2023-24) from last year (2022-23). The campus is calmer and my child is happier. He has great teachers and a great elective. Moving to separate lunch periods for 6, 7 and 8 has made the things so much calmer and my child is so much happier. Hale has a caring staff and administrators that are very responsive to parents needs. I would recommend Hale Charter Academy to anyone considering the school.Parent Review7mo ago - El Camino Real Senior High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI heard ECR was a good school to send my daughter because it was the school in my community. But come to find out they go out of their way to lottery others students in from all over the SFV. Which mean these students and their parents doesn’t live in our community. So they could careless about the School or our Community. A lot of these parents are just happy that they don’t have to send their children to their low rated schools from their areas that they live in. This is where the problem lies. Back in the day if you we’re lucky enough to have gotten into a School out of your School district that was a honor and privilege but not today. These kids and parents don’t see it that way. This is why people from our community is sending their kids to private schools. I would love to send my daughter to a private school but she doesn’t want to go because a few of her friends from our community goes to ECR. She has known her friends since elementary school. High School is hard enough and for her to start all over trying to make new friends that wouldn’t be fair to her. The sports programs are also going down hill you have some coaches that thinks the sports programs are all about them and not the students. The Volleyball coach is the worst she picks players that comes from her club team which lives outside of ECR district to play on the team and the kicker is these kids don’t have the basic fundamentals of the game. This leaves the kids that lives in our community no chance of making the team and if they do make the team they get little or no time because she has her favorites fromher club team. Trust me when I say it doesn’t matter how good the kids are from our community. I guess this is why she has close door tryouts. So no one can see what’s really happening doing the tryouts. It breaks my heart to see a school that was once great going down like the Titanic. TragicParent Review8mo ago - Check out schools near 22313 Hartland St.

"West Hills a tight-knit community where a good amount of neighbors know and watch out for each other. Nobody really bothers anyone, people are more likely to help than hurt others; therefore, it is a peaceful and comfortable place to live and raise a family. "

"you see them walking a lot around sunset there are trails that people like to take their dogs on but small dogs are in constant danger from coyotes that jump the fences regularly in the area and owls. they come down from the local mountains looking for food. larger animals are much safer here but a pack can easily take down a single large dog if desperate enough "

"I have lived here since I was born and am now raising my young child here. It is a great area in Los Angeles to raise children. It is secluded enough to feel like you are away from the city noise and traffic, and yet only 15 minutes from some of the highest end shopping and restaurants in the area. Homes in this area are rarely on the market; most of my neighbors have lived here for at least 15 years and plan to for many more. Mostly everyone takes pride in their home in our community, and looks out for each other in the neighborhood. It has been this way since it was built in the late 1980s and continues to remain so (only with the houses being continually updated and modernized!). It is an expensive community, but proves to be well worth the investment. "

"There are a lot of elementary schools in the areas of west hills and Canoga Park. There are many charter and magnet schools that offer various focuses. If your home school does not suit your child’s specific needs there is plenty of opportunity to enter a lottery to get your child into a preferred school. If you are not admitted through lottery and you have to go to your home school, the schools in the area are great. There is something about going to school with your neighbors that makes a neighborhood a community it is an aspect often not considered in the search for quality education. Knowing your neighbors creates community which is a great thing for children."
