3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 kids at Thomas and have been pleased with their education there. They do good thing with the limited funds of a public school. The principal is positive, high energy and really cares for the kids. He has accommodated my special requests for my kids. The teachers we have had there are excellent. They have been nurturing yet firm. If I had to change anything at Thomas, it would be to increase their funding. 2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has potential under very different leadership. The current principal is not suited for her role and should never have been assigned as Principal. I'm honestly not even sure how she is truly qualified and you can't research because there is no information about her background on the FUSD website.....unlike all of the teachers and most other administrators. She completely disrespects parents concerns and demonstrates this to her teachers who follow suite, is non responsive to concerns to bullying (both by students AND teachers), and throws her hands in the air and blames understaffing for not tamping down on inappropriate cell phone usage, yet has NO problem complaining about it! Meanwhile, the other middle school in town has an "away for the day" campaign with a zero tolerance for cell phones out during the day and they have SIGNIFICANTLY less issues. We speak first hand because we removed our child from Sinagua after one horrible year and our child is now completely thriving at the other public middle school in town! It has been a "night and day" difference. Sinagua also attempted to bring in the International Baccalaureate program, which as a graduate of the program, I was very excited about. Unfortunately, her/the lack of understanding and true dedication to the program was beyond evident when they attempted to roll it out and that they dropped from a D rated school to an F rated school. So very disappointing......perhaps if parents' thoughts and opinions that would have been taken into consideration....but we were just seen as an inconvenience there. As long as the current principal is in charge, and I say "in charge" because it is a dictatorship, there is no hope for this school. I DO have hope for the future under differently leadership. "It's a nice, friendly neighborhood and maintained well. The HOA takes care of the front yards, trims trees, paints units, and more. Shopping stores are convenient on that side of town, close to the mall and access to I-40. Grocery store is less than a mile or just over a mile depending which one you want to go to. Trees are mature giving wonderful shade in summer. Walk to Bushmaster Park for fun or quiet time. This park has so many things for all ages which is really nice! Trail walk, dog park, tennis, basketball, skateboard, picnic tables, little kids area with playground equipment, older kids area, restrooms, BBQ areas, and more. Very well maintained by the city! Great neighborhood and great neighbors makes living here so pleasant! Enjoy easy living with little maintenance work so you can get out and hike, ski, bike, or just sightsee beautiful Northern Arizona. Grand Canyon is an easy drive."
