Admin and teachers do not take bullying seriously. After awhile the teachers begin to ignore incidences of your child being bullied. They will stop responding to emails and allow it to continue. You need to contact the school resource officer yourself because the teachers, admin and staff will allow numerous physical assaults before doing so. The troubled kids are moved into the gifted class as though they will become smarter through osmosis. You'll be told the bullies deserve a "fair and appropriate education" at this school and the principal will tell you they'll move your child out of the gifted class so the bully can stay!!Two teachers harassed my son about a hat he was wearing and one yelled at him for being in the wrong place when he was exactly where he should be, in line with his class. My son's math teacher was brain washing the students about politics! I went to the superintendent and was met with harsh, cold words and no solution. The superintendents receptionist hung up on me after she asked if I thought of homeschooling my son instead of them actually caring and doing what they were hired to do. She couldn't understand why I was upset. ??? Bullies get endless chances yet those with special needs are given pathetic tests so see if they need services. I sent the preschool level test they gave my son for speech services to the AZDOE. I don't know anything about the new principal starting the '21 school year. The vice principal enjoyed punishing my daughter last year when she was in her class, for other students misdeeds. When I emailed with my concerns, she gave me attitude exclaiming "she doesn't have enough time in a day". Well she had enough time to deny my daughter physical exercise on a daily basis. She was continually angry when I would pick her up from school. Her teacher was horrible with communication on other accounts. I never knew what was going on or what to prepare her for. All year I was only told to practice math facts with her. She also tried telling my daughter to ignore her basic human right of when she could and couldn't use the restroom. That never should happen at an age when young girls start menstruating! I do NOT recommend sending your child to this 'school'. You're better off homeschooling!

Don't like this school. Need new staff there, all so rude. The teachers and office staff.Even when you call there even rude on the phone especially the older one withe short blonde hair that works in the office that sits on the back right side. She loves to give attitude even to parents. I always here about bullying at this school as well.

Good college readiness programs, but serious issues with a complete lack of communication between staff, misuse of funding, terrible administration, discrimination and blatant mistreatment of certain students, no regard for bullying, failure to meet special education needs, and a plethora of other issues. Food served is the stuff that is sold cheap from factories because it doesn't meet health and safety standards for grocery stores and no options for students with dietary restrictions.

This school has improved over the years. Teachers and staff provide more than just academic support for students. The academy feels like more of a home for students who were left in the sidelines in regular high schools.
