5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI graduated from Winterboro High School in 1974.... I am amazed at what this school has become. This school was the pilot school for new Technology established in the Talladega County School System. The Alabama State School Superintendant, Dr. Thomas R. Bice has recommended that all others systems in the state view the procedures used by this school system. Winterboro is a hot spot for visits from educators all across the country because of their cutting edge methods to learning. $5,000 will surely be used to further the education of todays brightest minds by providing more resourses.Other Review10y ago - Ashland Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis has to be one of the worst schools in the state. I have 2 step sons in this school, both who have not made the grades this year to be moved on to the next grade. However, the older one, who has an IEP (a plan to deal with educating him as he has behavior, mental and psychological issues) and failed kindergarten, is in the 6th grade and even with his year end average for ALL classes being "D"s they are saying that he should be moved on to the 7th grade. When I spoke to his teachers and the school to find out why a student who has made no effort to get good grades is being passed to the next grade I was told that "Because he has an IEP his grades don't matter". So my almost 13 year old step son who should be going into the 8th grade, and is on a 4th grade reading and math level is being recommended to pass to the 7th grade by this school. The younger one is in the 4th grade, has made the same kind of grades and they are wanting to pass him, even though he is just now on a 3.1 (first part of the 3rd grade year) with his math and reading. The younger one does not have an IEP. I am at a loss as to why a school would pass children with "D"s and "F"s on to the next grade.Parent Review9y ago - Central High School of Clay County
