7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am very disappointed in this school. My daughter and her family recently moved into the district from another state. Our grandson is in 3rd grade. He is quite intelligent and gets very good grades. This school was near to expelling him for non-compliance after he had been there for 2 months. (He takes his time making decisions and did not always understand what the teacher was asking him to do.) The only thing the school asked to have done to help him succeed in school was for my daughter and son-in-law to give permission for corporal punishment to be administered by school personnel. They would not try putting him in another teacher's classroom or having a helper work with him or work with them in any other was. And, he never had a recess. I do not expect young children to sit in a classroom for 3-4 hours at a time without a break. Perhaps this is one reason why Alabama school children don't test very well on the national level. "The public transportation in Phenix city needs improvement. You must have a car or be willing to pay for Uber if you live in Phenix City. Traffic is not bad and it is quick to get around from place to place. "

"Lots of dogs. And they bark constantly. And when I say lots of dogs, I mean it sounds like a dog pound outside. I’ve seen lots of kids around the neighborhood. Seems safe enough for them to be out and about playing in the streets. "

"Phenix city does not have covenants to protect you from seeing their junk everywhere! Also, around our home, most people do not have their dogs fenced in so you have to be careful while out walking or jogging. There isn’t a place to really take your pets either. Other than that, I have sweet neighbors close to our age who all have children at different ages and we feel safe in our home. "
