2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a student at Goodwyn middle and PLEASE do not send your student here.Academics:-We are unable to learn, and the administration blames it on us. The teachers continuously quit and so we are left with substitutes who have no clue about the subject. The teachers we do have don't teach, and they yell at us for not being aware of things we are not taught. We are then given videos that have no correlation to the subject matter. Later we are given tests where we have no clue what is on there, so most students fail, or resort to other students which makes them more stressed than they already are. If we get books, they are very outdated and falling apart, to the point where they are not even accurate anymore.Environment:-The environment is also awful. The classrooms are severely outdated, to the point where it is making kids sick. There are holes in the walls and paint is chipping off. The technology is outdated and/or does not work, they have a team of students who help people with technology and it is stressful. There are drawings on the walls and doors. In the bathroom, stalls are so short you can see over them, and students do. When you stand up, your entire head, and part of your torso, is above the stall. There is a bug infestation as we constantly find dead and alive bugs in the halls and the classroom. The air conditioning is broken, so it is either way too cold in the winter, or way too hot in the spring and summer months.Bullying:-Kids constantly bully others and nothing is done about it. Kids might get suspended if it gets violent but otherwise no effort is made. It has gotten to the point where if you have a different opinion, you get beaten up. Then everyone gets suspended, not just the bullies.Administration & Security:-Administration is awful, they yell at us and confiscate things that are not against the rules, like jackets. They threaten to suspend us because someone else is being disobedient. Security is also awful minus about 3 people. They pat us down, make us take our shoes and jackets off, sometimes they throw it around enough that it is damaged or broken. They confiscate anything that is open, personal care items, phones, markers, watches, headphones, airpods, etc. When we get them back they are lost, broken, damaged, or refused to be returned.Final Statements:All aspects of this school are awful. This is not a good place to send your child. So please, do not send your child to this school if you care about their well-being.Student Review4w ago - William Silas Garrett Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are a military family. My child has attended schools in SC, GA, LA, MO and AL. This has been the lowest rated school overall. (+) My child 2nd grade teacher Ms. Goodwin was great. She was a 1st year teacher, enthusiastic and great teacher. (+) Ms. Jan front office sec is great, informative and cheerful. (-) Principal acts like she is concerned about students education but her own children attend the local magnet school. (Intersting) (-) The level is the lowest we have ever attended I feel overall they are 1 to 2 grades behind other states. (-) 1/2 the kids that attend do not live in the surrounding areas they just use others addresses so you get a mix of kids with a mix of behaviors. (-) PTA, what PTA??? (-) They don't receive any fed funding so they ask you for money every other day.Parent Review10y ago - Park Crossing High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has been through terrible years where the staff, faculty, etc. have no respect for each other or students. Recently has gotten better but that isn't saying much. The students aren't interested in learning because the current principle shuts the door on any of the students' creativity. The art department, for example, has been put through the wringer. The band has suffered drastically due to a lack of consistent leadership and a great director was put in place, he was fired for a complaint from a student that was mad because she wasn't able to keep up with the progress due to a lack of musical skill/ effort. From having, what was widely regarded as, one of the best bands in the city and the overall state with a wide fanbase and support group, to having almost 10 members and not having any resources for uniforms in a few months and the downward spiral is only getting worse. But that is just one aspect. The sports department on all fronts is also hampered by the new regime put in place by the Principal.Other Review1y ago - Check out schools near 6549 Ridgeview Cir.
