What Locals Say about Decatur

  • Trulia User
"It’s a good place to walk dogs, other dogs are all around the neighborhood. It’s very dog friendly, there are great parks and sidewalks. People mostly pick up after their dogs which is very appreciated. We really enjoy having our dogs here and they seem to really love it here too!! They love going for walks and playing in the park! And it’s safe for us to let them outside without leashes on. Our dobby and Bonnie girl loves all the birds and squirrels and they love "

"This neighborhood is incredibly loud, with several neighbors working on cars daily. Several neighbors also own pit bulls, making it difficult to take your friendly dog for a walk. The through traffic is horrible, people speeding through the neighborhood to avoid the light at Danville and 8th. Further, we had many people who were not residents in the neighborhood at all hours of the day- many of them with I'll intentions. Pretty neighborhood, and generally well kept, just not child friendly. "

"This neighborhood is very safe and quiet. Excellent elementary school. If you are involved with your child's middle and high schools, they will get a very good education, despite the ratings. There is NO public transportation. The neighborhood is next door to the area's lovely waterpark and golf course. Great place for families - emphasis on church, family, children's sports. Awfully quiet for singles and couples but just a short drive to the livelier Huntsville. Shopping - OK for everyday necessities, off to Huntsville for clothing, electronics, homegoods...which is a shame, this town is vastly underserved, but things are improving."
