7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 girls at Alba a 6th and 7th grader. They both enjoy this school and like the teachers. I personally have mixed feelings about this middle school. I don’t like how they don’t communicate well about events or things that are going on with the kids. There’s no real communication between teachers and parents they tell the students what is going on and expect them to remember to let the parents know. Yeah they have a Facebook page but not everyone has Facebook to go and try to follow SOME of the things they’ve put on there. 10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you have an elementary aged student, it is literally worth moving to Dauphin Island to go to the school… DI elementary is far superior to the private school my kids went to in Atlanta… My daughter is in fifth grade and testing at eighth grade level math. The staff and leadership are exceptional. What goes on at the top will show those beneath them (i.e. teachers, aides, and students) what is considered acceptable or unacceptable. This school has lacked quality leadership for quite a few number of years. Too many things are permitted to continue, and things that will reflect poorly on the school are generally "swept under the rug". "We have leash laws everywhere and some beaches do not allow dogs. Dog off leashes are not welcomed. However, most people on the island do have pets."
