4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved to the area because of a job my husband accepted and on the first day of school as we were being led to see where my daughters class would be we were stopped by the principal with what was a very rude introduction of herself. She didn’t even say her name or actually introduce herself it was just more of a announcement to let me and husband know who she was and to sternly let me know that we couldn’t go see my daughters class. What she expressed verbatim to me when I expressed that we were new and weren’t trying to impede but to just see her class as she was a new student to the school and to the city all together was a “ No that won’t be happening “ I remember looking at my husband in pure shock not understanding how she had completely disregarded that I told her we were new and that the teacher herself asked us to follow her to the class. She didn’t even so much as say her name just a No. That was my red flag and I should have considered other routes for her education at that point. We have a family dog that rides with us sometimes too and she’s also had the sheriff that patrols the school to ask us that we not bring him anymore to the school. He’s never barked, jumped out of the vehicle at any point or done anything that would cause the school to be in fear of him. I have saw many pets ride along with their owners to drop the kids off. Upon one drop off she asked that I roll the window up which was only down enough for his head to be out of. I don’t understand what the issue is nor am I trying to stick around to see what new things will roll out. I really don’t have much to say about my child’s teacher. She reached out a few times about things my daughter could improve on. My daughter is already having her share of struggles and I am just wanting to give her the one on one she deserves and out of an environment that I have to second guess the leadership of the school. Not saying it’s a bad school or the school has a bad principal but I don’t think this is the place for my daughter nor would I want to involve myself as a volunteer to have to work with someone that could easily exhibit such a poor attitude the way she did us on our first day. When I went to the office that same day, the first day she did say “I don’t mean to be rude” but that’s purely passive aggression and it was exactly what it was just flat out rudeness.Parent Review1y ago - Erwin Intermediate School
