The building itself is nice...but academically I cannot believe how far behind my child is since being there for two years. There are cultural programs.. but only if you are Tlinget. There is bullying happening to black children and children who are believed to be gay. Diversity programs might be better than a cultural program that caters to only 1 culture. The principal is worried about how things look... but she's not doing the work part of her job. Can anyone recommend a better school? "Great 4th of July celebrations; spring folk festival; spring king fishing tournament and late summer salmon derby; Friday art gallery walks; after Thanksgiving we have a Gallery Walk to kick off the holiday season; Duck Derby spring event sponsored by Rotary Club; winter down hill and cross country skiing; lots of hiking trails; forest service cabins for rent; in-door and outdoor city league sports."

"Living in Douglas makes using the public bus very easy and preferable over driving to downtown. Capital transit is great in my area and buses run every 30 minutes "

"Juneau has terrible dog owners and it is not a good place for dogs. limited areas and everyone flocks to them without leashes. Great place if you are single or a couple without animals and love to hike."

"Juneau as a whole feels like a giant community. We have tons of events and adventures, especially in the summer. Bacon fest, maritime festival, hiking, wildlife to name a few. "

"Dog owners would like the large amount of trails present in the area. There is also Cope Park near the downtown area where you can let your dog(s ) run free and get some exercise. Many people also take their dogs to the Mendenhall Glacier which has some pretty stunning scenery that never really seems to get old. Dog owners would not like the immense amount of retail listed that is NOT pet friendly (many leases do not allow pets in the Juneau area for two main reasons : increased probability of property damage and allergies within multi-domicile buildings). For this reason, finding an adequate home for you and your animals can be prove to be difficult In Juneau."

"You have to watch out for bears and wolves. There are plenty of bad dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs. This is a dog friendly town. "
