N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has some phenomenal teachers, and it has some human beings who should never be allowed to even volunteer in a classroom. My child has loved school and grown steadily intellectually for two years at this school, asking us incessantly over breaks, “Is there school tomorrow?” That all changed when he entered 1st grade into a lazy, red, bigoted teacher who has a history of mistreatment of boys and constantly giving busy work that had already been learned in kindergarten. My child now makes statements like, “I am a failure” and “I am bad at math.” This is a first-grade child! Other local educators refuse to allow their child to enter her classroom. The brand-new principal is more concerned with his ego than the best interest of the students and defends her regardless of the evidence showing regression. This school has burned out teachers sprinkled throughout and, as of this year, a burned-out high school teacher as a principal. No child deserves to be emotionally abused and have their education stolen from them through a plethora of worksheets that belong in the previous grade. Who wants to roll the dice on their child’s education or emotional wellbeing?Parent Review1y ago - Homer High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is not preparing students for college or gainful employment after graduation. The teachers spend too much time pumping up students egos and relying on youtube for actual lesson teaching. Requests to contact teachers or administrators are returned in weeks, months or not at all. The school's main focus unfortunately is sports and extracurricular activities. Math, Sciences, and other core academic subjects take a back seat.Parent Review6y ago - West Homer Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe grading system is number based, not letter or percentage based. While this does promote the amazing "growth mindset" the school is so great about teacher, it is a struggle moving into 7th grade and grasping a different grading system. Overall, this is a WONDERFUL staff who are caring, involved and invested in their students and community!Parent Review5y ago - Homer Middle School

"You drive anywhere you need to go. Roads are not great, so expect a lot of car maintenance and/or a new car every couple of years. Parking is rarely a problem. "

"The view is to die for. Trails abound for hiking and exploring. It’s Homer at its finest! Walking distance to the hospital is an added bonus. "

"The Spruceview up to Rangeview streets are among my favorites in Homer. They are a little ways off the beaten track, still kind of woodsy (especially Spruceview and Noview) and yet residents can easily walk to restaurants, the movie theater, the grocery store, etc. Noview and Rangeview dead-end at Woodard Creek so they are especially quiet."
