Rubidoux is a suburban neighborhood in Jurupa Valley, a 44-square-mile city just northwest of Riverside.
Rubidoux sits across the Santa Ana River from downtown Riverside.
The neighborhood was named for a French Canadian fur trapper who settled the area in 1843.
For decades, Rubidoux had a few residential pockets in what was otherwise orchards and rural open space.
In 2011, it was one of several communities to be incorporated as the city of Jurupa Valley.
Now Rubidoux is considered a bedroom community to Riverside.
Many locals commute into Riverside for work by way of Mission Boulevard or Highway 60.
There are also a few apartment complexes and mobile home parks close to the commercial zone on Mission Boulevard.
Mission Boulevard is the place to find local restaurants, grocery stores, mechanic shops, and a drive-in theater.
Rancho Jurupa Park, the largest in the neighborhood, is a 200-acre green space with mini golf, two fishing lakes, and a splash pad.
“I like the surroundings, green trees, the lake, and the quiet environment. Great neighborhood.” —Y.B., resident
