If you are looking for a special community with exceptional staff, Metzger Elementary is the place for your family. The tenets of respect, responsibility and rigor are highly valued and help students to be successful in their academic and interpersonal endeavors. Metzger Elementary hosts one of two Bilingual (Spanish) programs in the Tigard-Tualatin District and its students are thriving. Reading and Math programs are solid and the Music program/instructor is far and away the Best in the District, if not the state. When my child began at Metzger, the Principal promised "We are going to love your kids." Five years later, the promise continues to be kept. :) I am truly impressed with the Teachers, Staff and Administration at our school and in the Tigard-Tualatin School District.

School has a past with throwing items at students, the water is yellow, inappropriate teachers who not only refuse to teach but say they don’t care if the school gets shot up, and an inappropriate principal in the past who refused to do anything about harassment of a student who’s nudes were spread until he saw the nudes of the underage girl. And now someone somehow mistakes oven cleaner.. for salt and puts it on pretzels. Incredible work Fowler. I’m always impressed.

We love it, and have been in the community for years! THS is a great recently modernized school that provides a wide variety of well funded academic during and after school programs. Community is great, involed in support, fundraising and volunteering. The kids experience a great mix of education, community events and variety of socioeconomic groups of people. The athletic programs are fantastic and well funded and regularly compete in the most challenging league in the state. There is ample comittment to post highschool education and assistance programs that kids of all backgrounds and future expecations can take advantage of.
