5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe lack of communication is appalling. My sons first year in school and the staff giving me incorrect information caused us to miss orientation, miss signing up for before and aftercare, his teacher encouraged me to sign him up for counseling - then told the counselor she had no concerns so he does not need to be seen. And now after I’ve attended every event he’s had all year (or at least arranged for a separate family member to attend with him) I got 1 message at 8am on a professional day (school closed) Monday that he was getting the principals award. Nothing in his folder, no call or additional message when it was clear I hadn’t responded/hadn’t seen it. So now I’ve missed the most important event for my son all year because of this teacher. I truly don’t see how next year could be any worse and I regret not reaching out to the principal about this teacher and these issues sooner. I am praying his 1st grade teacher is better or I will look into switching him elsewhere. The stress is not worth it, and he and I are both heartbroken that I missed this when I 100% could have attended had I been made aware in any other way than a single message 5 days before.Parent Review1mo ago14 Reviews - Venice Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLike a fish, it stinks from the head down. This school has a high turnover rate because no one actually wants to work there. No help or information from HR, the BOE, or administration. They just expect you to know things they have not put together or told you about. No one communicates with each other either.Other Review1y ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near Yucca Rd.

"The EastGate neighborhood is a hidden gem. There are a number of nice, older homes on good-sized lots, with many being upgraded with every new owner or already renovated. There are also many future opportunities as you look around. It's a perfect location between historic downtown Venice on the Island, and east to I-75 and the new areas being built out there. There's a Publix a block over and Venice Avenue isn't as busy as Route 41. Even with all the growth and new development, this part of Venice remains low-key and very pleasant. The homes here are a good value for the money and worth either buying and renovating, or buying an upgraded one. One of the best areas in the city that is not on the island, and my family has been here since the early 90s."
