My overall review of this school is Mid the safety isn’t that great there are fights there was a gun threat before but neither did the students or teachers take it seriously. There is very much drama but that’s completely normal at every other middle school although This one in my opinion might be a little worse. The students don’t have any respect for their peers and teachers. Every other day there is something with the students and teachers and if you or you’re child isn’t really a person up for drama or just arguments daily I do not recommend this school for that matter especially if they are in 7th or 8th grade that’s mainly where all of it comes from. The classrooms are okay depending on whose the teacher most of them do disrespect the students by saying some hurtful words towards them for example something when a student isn’t trying the teacher may call them out on a very disrespectful manner but like I said it just starts arguments between the two on the other hand the other teachers that handle it more professionally teach better and make your experience a plus one. They do try to teach us but most of the time they don’t personally ask you questions to make sure you understand before they move on to the next topic. Most of the counselor’s are supportive and helpful to talk to.

This school is terrible. The ladies in the office and that area have bad attitudes and hate when it’s time to actually do their jobs. They can be nice but they choose to be hateful. This is excluding the counselors because they’re the only ones who seem to have a heart. Everyone else is just super rude And blame things on you. Teachers and coaches act more like the students friends then the professionals. It’s a little strange I get there can be bonds created but there’s a certain point where it’s ok. Another thing. This school cares more about football and its players more than the actual education. They praise their players more than the students who are getting achievement after achievement. They invest MORE into sports than into education,and their buildings. Which leads into another topic. The state of the buildings that make up the school. It’s like half of the school is kept well nd clean And the other half is completely broken down,worn out,bad electricity and dirty. Bathrooms in some buildings are NASTY! Toilets falling apart,trash everywhere,one is always clogged,and stinks. Not to mention the holes in the walls and flickering lights. Next thing. Their learning environment. They don’t know how to keep their students in check! They’re either fighting,playing around or going from classroom to classroom. Lots of profanity can be heard throughout the hallways ,bullying,conversations about not so appropriate things and kids who seem to think they are grown!! I know the saying “it all starts at home” but dang the school is not helping out either. the school food is said to be terrible, they like to be very petty about things like events, making it very stressful. I have a whole list of things I could keep going on about but please from this alone, just know it’s better to enroll your student somewhere else!!! Please!!!!

North Douglas Elementary is a great school, this will be my daughter's 2nd year. The school offers many opportunities throughout the year for family engagement that encourages parents to be involved in their child's learning. The school has policies and procedures in place to keep the students safe, which is important. North Douglas is well organized and there's structure in place which creates a comfortable environment for the students while learning. Principal Carter has an open door policy for parents to communicate with him, which is great because communication is important. My daughter had Mr.Jolly and Ms.Baker as her teachers, they were both amazing and very supportive. They made learning fun for my daughter and she enjoyed being in their class.
