4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagehonestly i really like this school so far. ive only been here a year but it seems really nice so far, contrary to what the data says. it seems to be out of date, at the very least the name is, as its now mcdaniel. the teachers are great, the building is super nice and new, its kept fairly clean, and there have only been a couple fights ive seen or heard about. i know franklin high school has had a lot more fights this year than we have. im not sure why, but for some reason the grading standards for core classes are lower here than some other schools like franklin. for example, at franklin you need 90% for an A, whereas here you only need 87.5%. that could be due to the school being in a low income area, if thats the case then thats a little messed up to expect less from a low income neighborhood. the french department could use a little work, theres one french teacher who is very under qualified. i could have learned more on duolingo for a couple months than a year of his class. he only learned french from being in a french speaking country in africa for a little bit and doesnt know a lot of spelling and grammar. my friend who went to le monde french immersion school has to correct the teacher here, not an uncommon experience for other students from that school. overall, i like the school and the atmosphere. it is on 82nd which is a little sketchy but i still feel safe there. also, the school lunch is surprisingly good, and if you have money a lot of food is accessible by foot or bus nearby.Student Review2y ago30 Reviews - Rose City Park

"Rose City is where we chose to buy because of location vs price . Were only 1.5 miles from Alberta and Mississippi in the NE and 1.5 miles from Division and Hawthorne. There are lots of great homes to go after with charm and character and an affordable square footage."

"We have summer block parties (except this year), holiday dinner party, yard sales, and book club. We share our summer fruits and veggies, make jam, and lots of other goodies to share. I love it here. "

"the neighborhood is quite dog-friendly, dogs are welcome at the Hollywood farmer's market after 10am. There are many, many dog walkers throughout the neighborhood, morning and evening."

"Dogs are a staple in the neighborhood. People walk dogs regularly and it is very pet friendly in most retail establishments. ."

"Bike theft off front porch within last three months, frequent domestic disputes. Beautiful adjacent neighborhoods but main streets could use more community involvement, better screening of tenants with frequent turnover"

"I feel very safe walking by myself late at night. The neighbors on my block get together for parties monthly in the summer, and people who move away become "honorary" neighbors and still come. Great place to live!"

"I've lived here for 30 years. We have an annual block party, when the whole block will assemble outside to barbeque together, potluck style, and drag lawn chairs into the street to visit. It's a nice place to live."

"I grew up in Irvington and attended middle school at Beaumont MS. I’ve been in this area for 30 years but living in Rose City for the past 6 months. Everyone is friendly and there is a mix of generations living here. "

"This is a quiet old Alameda residential neighborhood near restaurants, banks, and groceries, and movie theater. It is within easy walking to the Roseway, Hollywood, and Beaumont neighborhoods. It is above the Rose City Golf Course."

"Our neighbors are friendly, the traffic is low and there is easy access to Max and the freeways. It's nice to see folks of all stages of life thriving in the surrounding blocks. We appreciate that there is rarely a serious crime event and count ourselves fortunate to live in this neighborhood."

"This area is a wonderful place to live and work! You can walk to the MAX train, so get into downtown easily! It is close to Providence and walking distance to all the shops, cafes, restaurants of Hollywood District- yet it is on a dead end road in Euclid heights! Great place to raise kids with Laurelhurst Grade School and Grant High! All the houses around it are well cared for!"

"Walk to Providence Hospital, Trader Joes, MAX and bus transit station. Secluded, close to parks and walk to school. Many happy long-term residents and young families- dog walking is common and neighbors are friendly. Custom homes in nice neighborhood off the beaten path but very safe and walk friendly. "
