5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe recently moved away from the city to this area and luckily we weren’t making our decisions solely on the data provided from the schools reviews because I have to say the schools ratings published doesn’t reflect the top notch quality of the school because our son attends this school and bare in mind he was previously attending a gifted and talented school due to selection. So in summary they are doing a tremendously well job.Other Review5y ago6 Reviews - Newfield High School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attending Kindergarten at this school and her teacher and principal were wonderful. You hear terrible feedback about Middle Country School District and I work in the education field but if you hear any negative comments, ignore them. My daughter's teacher was communicative, caring, firm, but very sweet. My daughter excelled in writing and reading in such a short amount of time. The way the principal handled the pandemic was in my eyes, phenomenal. I wish my daughter could go there for 1st grade!Parent Review4y ago8 Reviews - Check out schools near Third St.

"Some neighborhoods don't have sidewalks so you have no option but to walk in the street. There are many families with dogs and Selden has it's own dog park."

"I work at Stony Brook hospital which is a 10 minute ride away. The traffic is usually heavier at rush hour and easier on the ride home. "

"There are a lot of dog owners. There is also a fairly new dog park nearby. Backyards are a decent size also. There aren’t a ton of sidewalks for walking but the streets are safe enough with plenty of shoulder. A day does not go by that I don’t see someone walking their dog in my neighborhood. It is definitely very dog friendly. "

"It’s diverse. There are 3 different school districts in my town, the housing is quasi-affordable for Long Island. It’s close to shopping, public transport (though the transport is shotty) and to the Long Island expressway "

" There are beautiful parts to Coram, and parts that need more attention. Anyone moving here needs to research which part they are moving to. But my town is diverse, with many family owned businesses, close commutes for hospital workers like myself (there are 3 within 15 mins of me) very close to the LIE (the main local expressway) many restaurants, bakeries, etc. but without a car, there are buses, but they don’t run on Sunday’s or in the evenings and rarely come. Basically, you should not come if you cannot drive. The cost of living is still New York prices. And chances are, if you see a house under 400,000 here, it’s in the area that is not reputable. The schools offer many extra activities, with great libraries. And being dead center of the island, it’s a twenty minute drive to either shore. I recommend the north shore for sunsets!"
