4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOutstanding school!! It all starts with the principal and staff, Mrs. Guzman is a very dedicated principal and has the children's best interest at heart. When it comes to testing, they prepare the children and parents ahead of time. Two of my children have and currently are attending this school, and both have enjoyed being a part of this school. My daughter has excelled in this school, she won 1st place in Math Bee 2014 for all 3rd grade classes in U.I.S.D. I am very proud of her and all her teachers that have contributed to her success!Parent Review11y ago3 Reviews - John B Alexander High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe classes are not really all that challenging. When I attended pre-ap courses and I felt like only about of 3rd of the class work was worth studying and even then that's pushing it. You really don't need to study to PASS the courses I took, let alone get highB's or A's. AP courses were the only ones that were engaging and challenging.... and you take those if you wish your senior year. What about the other three years? The school's reputation is much "cleaner" that it actually is. Going into details of what I observed is in "allegations" territory so I'll just leave it at that. The extracurricular activities are top notch... but if classes are so easy to pass is it any wonder as to how so many students can "pass and play"? I think the teachers are extremely dedicated but I guess because of the lack of interest in school among the student body they water down the curriculum to the bare bones TAKS objectives. That's another thing, the school does a good job with promoting TAKS tutorials and objectives so if a student doesn't pass it... something is terribly wrong with him or her because this school really works hard to keep high scores. "We have a mud run at the park, a kite festival, volleyball tournaments, you have more than plenty of restaurants to choose from to eat at any time if day. There is also a lot of shops where you can go to. There is supermarkets to do your grocery shopping, lots of places where you can clean and wash your cars, there is also entertainment like a movie theatre, there are also several medical buildings to go to for your health checkups, a hospital, and several parks."
