8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent of a student here, I’m disappointed in Phoenixville Area School District’s approach to supporting its students, particularly those who require special services and accommodations. Students at this school are not given much to feel excited about when it comes to learning, except the PSSA's and mandated testing from the state. While some teachers are wonderful, supportive, and respectful, motivating their students to thrive, this varies widely depending on the teacher. One of the most troubling issues is the lack of support for students’ mental health and emotional well-being. The district has consistently pushed back on offering the necessary support and accommodations to our child with special needs, even with his clinical diagnoses. Instead of a partnership, our experience has felt more like a struggle, with the school failing to recognize families as valuable partners in their children’s learning journey.Safety and inclusivity are additional concerns. Both students and teachers have shared experiences where Black students are often unfairly labeled as “bad kids,” creating a discriminatory environment that does not align with a safe and welcoming school culture. I hope the district will take these issues seriously and make meaningful changes to create a more inclusive, supportive, and safe educational environment for all students.Parent Review1y ago8 Reviews - Schuylkill El School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOne of my children just graduated Schuylkill Elementary (SES) and another is going into 4th grade. From a parent and student perspective the school has been excellent. In our experience over the past five years the teachers are top notch in all aspects (care, support, preparation, readiness, and approachability). Teachers will completely "go the extra mile" to help their students succeed. The administration was/is supportive, easy to work with and reasonable. Great and broad music/choral program. SES represents a great learning environment for kids as students and individuals. We specifically chose SES over nearby, larger public schools as the smaller ecosystem provides our children (and us as parents) a more personal educational experience and sense of community. My kids really enjoyed/enjoy their time at SES - highly recommend the school.Parent Review6y ago7 Reviews - Phoenixville Early Learning Center
