6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCedar Ridge has an amazingly active and supportive Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), led by Leigh Ellen Atkins. Ms. Atkins does not like to take credit for her wonderful efforts, but as the PTO President, Ms. Atkins works tirelessly to ensure the teachers have what they need for their classrooms. Ms. Atkins writes letters and grants; calls our State Representatives, Partners in Education, and local industries to gain our school much needed funding for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities. Ms. Atkins works with the teachers to ensure our children are in a hands-on learning environment with a strong focus on STEM. As a Mechanical Engineer, Ms. Atkins personally knows the importance of making sure our children have a strong foundation in all their STEM classes. Ms. Atkins is truly amazing and has a huge heart for all our children.Parent Review8y ago4 Reviews - Austin High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe only good thing I have to say about this school is the teachers who instilled inspiration for my endeavors. The administration, on the other hand, is dismissive and careless of mental health issues, redirecting attention to how a good student can contribute to the overall image of the school. I won't extend on my personal issues that were ignored by admin, as they are sensitive, but I will say I was astounded by the lack of care. Moreover, their acts are solely directed towards students they believe are "better" than others. The students aforementioned are usually those involved in sports, honor societies, and extracurriculars. I am thrilled I'll never have to step foot in this place again.Other Review9mo ago5 Reviews - West Decatur Elementary School

"It’s a good place to walk dogs, other dogs are all around the neighborhood. It’s very dog friendly, there are great parks and sidewalks. People mostly pick up after their dogs which is very appreciated. We really enjoy having our dogs here and they seem to really love it here too!! They love going for walks and playing in the park! And it’s safe for us to let them outside without leashes on. Our dobby and Bonnie girl loves all the birds and squirrels and they love "

"There are three excellent private schools in the city of Decatur as an alternative to Public education. Most families in Decatur as Christian. Children are happier involved in youth activities. Decatur has excellent youth activities for all ages and even special Olympics."

"My current home backs up to the wildlife refuge so therefore you do get to see lots of wildlife. In the winter, we always see lots of deer but we also have lots of coyotes. We also get to see the migratory birds up close and personal. "
