6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBernal is a great school as long as you ignore all miscreants and those who vape. It should be a safe school unless you interact or are apart of the gangster crowd. I've grown emotionally and physically from this school, it's really strong in math and science. Most teachers care about you if you don't piss them off. The sports and clubs help you connect with new friends, track and field especially. Fights don't happen a lot during school hours. I do know many people who fight afterschool though, mostly over boys. Seventh grade ELA is kind of a weak spot, but history makes everything better (you have to be there to understand, it's so fun).Student Review1mo ago10 Reviews - Ledesma (Rita) Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is ok. My daughter is enrolled in kindergarten. Pros: she is making friends and there have not been any social issues. She’s very safe and all teachers/staff are kind. Cons: she has regressed in math and reading. There’s no way to meaningfully progress kids who are advanced when so many peers are behind, so my daughter is largely ignored. She’s so bored and drags her feet to go to school everyday. We’re looking at options. We’ve talked to the teacher but understand that there’s only so much she can do.Parent Review2y ago17 Reviews - Oak Grove High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSchool can do so much better if they really tried. They need more teachers who actually want to be there, make classroom a fun yet challenging environment. Teachers need to grade materials on time so kids don’t suffer at term end with lower grades. Seems like they don’t care. Lack of communication. You only hear from them at beginning of school open house. Still learning how this school works hoping it gets better. Around the school needs cleaning as well esp under and around bleachers area. As a parent, make sure you get canvas app and stay on top otherwise no one is watching over your kids.Parent Review2y ago12 Reviews - Check out schools near Silver Leaf Rd.

"I live in south San Jose since i was 12 years old. I did move around throughout the years to east San Jose and north San Jose, but south side always has been more quiet, people are more friendly and less trafficked. I personally love it here"

"I lived in Willow Glen for 19 years, I also was raised in this area and went to the school’s here. It has been a great privilege being able to be around the community. It offers some great places and opportunities for single, families, and friends to share a meaningful connection conversations, making new friends, having meals, dancing on the avenue, music, crafts, biking, baking and so very much more all in one place, Christmas is the best time of the year, especially when you’re neighbors go all out and decorate the whole community, and people from all over come to see all the lights and decorations and the ambiance of the city (Willow Glen)within a city . It’s a beautiful and unique place, when you get a chance you have to come and see all the things going on in the neighborhood that I have always enjoyed. Be Blessed and Enjoy your time here!"

"I feel very safe in this community and I lived in San Jose all my life they can put some more street lights while we’re walking like if we need to walk to the store at night or walking our dogs at night we could use some more street lights not parking light street lights so we can see the grounds better"

"It’s a great community but there’s a lot to do still to make it better . I think the city should provide a small subsidy to beautify the neighborhood eg. front yards and also enforce removal of junk from those houses that don’t do a good job to upkeep their curb appeal! "
