8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI still attend Heron Creek Middle School, and I feel it's important to highlight several serious concerns. First and foremost, the lack of discipline is alarming. Many students face little to no consequences for their actions, leading to a school culture where misbehavior, including fights, slurs, and casual racism, is prevalent and often overlooked. Additionally, some teachers resort to simply handing out worksheets without providing real instruction, which significantly impacts students’ learning experiences.Another issue is the presence of students who engage in inappropriate behavior, particularly a disturbing number of 'creepy' individuals who lack any sort of disciplinary action for their actions. This creates an uncomfortable and unsafe environment for many students. The Cambridge program, while beneficial for some, is growing rapidly, and the class sizes have ballooned to an average of 22 students per teacher, which only compounds the problem. It’s disheartening when administrators claim the school is a safe and effective learning environment, as this doesn't align with the reality many of us experience. The cafeteria situation is another area of concern. The food quality is inconsistent, and there’s a significant chance that what you get isn’t even properly cooked chicken, for example, is often served undercooked and pink. Moreover, the school promotes unhealthy eating choices, with cheap access to chips, soda, and ice cream. Given the small portion sizes for regular meals, it's no surprise that many students turn to these unhealthy snacks.Lastly, while the sports programs themselves are relatively good, there are some issues. The girls' basketball team, in particular, is notorious for being rude and bullying other students, which is completely unacceptable. There are also rumors about the former volleyball coach being involved in inappropriate behavior, further tarnishing the reputation of the school’s athletic programs.Student Review1y ago22 Reviews - Cranberry Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has attended Cranberry Elementary school since kindergarten and we have loved every year she has been there. She began with an IEP for speech and she was accommodated appropriately and eventually was released from speech and is thriving now in their advance work class! If I had to ask for improvements from the school, I would say it would be in communication and school wide behavior management. Both these areas need improvement, but they have not hindered the wonderful experience she has had so far.Parent Review1mo ago21 Reviews - Check out schools near Shady Ave.

"We have a neighborhood watch, and the City takes great care of the roads and mows along the side of the roads and along the waterways frequently. They even come out and clean our street lights! There are many community events throughout the year, and a few are outdoor movies at the park, a huge community garage sale, Trick or Treat City Hall, and at Christmas a parade with snow slides and Santa in the park! North Port is a great place to live!"
