I went to school here 11 years ago, and I would’ve recommended this school to anyone. However, it has went down hill bad. My nephew goes there and he is bullied by not only students but teachers. Not only is he getting bullied, but his teacher told my sister he was too smart for his own good. This school use to be challenging and we were always ahead when I went there. Now they don’t care about the students. Not all the teachers there are bad. When multiple kids have the same story, and the teachers will not let them go to the principals office about it, that should tell you the teachers don’t care because they “didn’t see it happen” or “I wasn’t outside.” Well if you weren’t outside, and you are supposed to be watching your students then you need to care more about your students. Also 4th graders and 2nd graders shouldn’t be allowed outside at recess together. A 4th grade boy hit two second grade girls, but “the teachers didn’t see it happen.” That’s not right at all. A boy shouldn’t be hitting a girl, a teacher needs to be watching their students, and not all kids are tattling, especially when they all have the same story. I wanted my children to go to this school, however I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone now.

Openly favors kids from “the pillars of the community” doctors, school donors, cops and people with a favorable last name. These kids (at least when I was there in 2016) were the ones who bullied other students and everyone else knew not to report it because 1. Nothing would happen. And 2. You could catch heat for it later or be completely ostracized. If you know what’s good for your kids if you aren’t one of the big names in Nicholas county don’t send your kid here.

Being a two year substitute teacher who has seen many schools in Lincoln and Ouachita parish, I feel qualified to say this is the most notorious school in the area. There is a reason this place does not keep a full staff of teachers and has a hard time even finding substitutes to fill in. Richwood Middle is plagued by students with severe behavioral problems who make it almost impossible to teach anything. For the full-time teachers here, this job is truly a work of love. The school receives one star from me for being a very new and clean facility. Additionally, the faculty is very nice if not worn down as well. Other than that, there are no redeeming qualities to be found here. It's riddled with "last chance" teachers who have been kicked out of school elsewhere only to end up here. The students are just bad. There is no other way to put it. If the fact that they still get "paddlings" isn't a testament to this, I don't know what else is. Corporal punishment, or paddling, is the main form of discipline. What's worse is that kids take this is a joke...they welcome it. All in all, it's the worst school in the area, and you must be brave to try and teach there.

Richwood High School is an exceptional school, however many ignore this fact. One reason Richwood is thought of as a less than satisfactory school is because it's not well funded. However, the teachers are able to provide hands on education because they are a single A school. The school has been around for many years, so that basically tells you there isn't much wrong with the school itself. Every school has its problems,but Richwood High School doesn't have many to worry about at all. If you were considering either Richwood or Nicholas County High Schools, I would deffinately think it through thoroughly. While NCHS has many more oppertunites than RHS, NCHS also has many more students-making it harder to learn and understand what is going on in class. Richwood High School is made up of hardworking, trustworthy people and should be recongnized for such.
