3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers are using a new tool called Alexia for reading. The computer time spent is a challenge between classmates and grades to improve their own score. Since my kids view it as a "level" challenge in math and reading. I feel confident they will do great in their exams from what I have seen. They make do with what is provided, but improvements can be made by education system towards this school.I believe they have started a Math Club that is optional to all grades.Parent Review4y ago3 Reviews - Lake Taylor High School

"Very supportive and friendly neighbors. It’s also relatively clean of trash and debris on the streets and yards. Loss of well behaved dogs and their owners."

"Most people have dogs and sometimes we know the dogs names before we know each others name... lol I do wish the city would put in a dog park near by, but we do appreciate all our animals"

"It can be a little dangerous in some areas but most places are fine. Winona and Colonial Place are both wonderful quiet neighborhoods."

"Very walkable area with a wonderful independent coffee shop, movie theater, restaurants and antique shops. Parking is easily accessible on the street. I lived here several years and rarely had an issue finding parking. "

"Dog owners would like the sidewalks, the ERT and many large old trees that provide shade. It is also safe without a lot of vehicle traffic so you can walk in the road if you want, which many do."

"There is a lot of beauty out here, but there’s also a lot of drama and not the best situations or community vibes all the time but you can find some good people. You just gotta pay attention and good places to."

"The commute is easy to Virginia Beach, Downtown Norfolk and surrounding areas. I use the Marina often too and love it. Just a short drive a way from the beach or a nice walk. "

"My neighborhood has no events that make it special. This area is a bit dry. I think that the community could improve in that way."

"Nothing. This neighborhood isn’t bad, but it isn't the friendly borrow sugar and invites them to a barbecue neighborhood either. It is a typical mind-your-own-business quiet and safe neighborhood, in my opinion."

"Best hotspot location for things to do, places to see, food to eat. Commuter lifestyle and busy streets. I still feel safe enough to walk my dog around 10pm and it is especially quiet on weeknights. Weekends are a nightmare. "

"Homeless tend to roam the streets and the weekends are filled with events that pack the streets/vendors with tourists/etc. that are not always safe for children. People ride the scooters on the sidewalk with little to no knowledge on proper etiquette and basic how-to-use."

"I’ve lived in Virginia Beach for 30 years ( military took us here) I’ve never felt so welcome in Virginia since I’ve moved to this neighborhood in Norfolk, I love it here. It’s welcoming and all the neighbors keep it very well maintained. It’s a beautiful area so happy I made the move! "

"We do not have any community events other than a regular civic association meeting. There are events within the city of Norfolk, but none specific to our neighborhood. Neighbors get together on holidays and frequently have each other over for outdoor fires."

"Freemason is such a great area to live. The historic beauty of cobblestone streets and Brownstone buildings, lush green avenues and parks, combined with the the fact that it's only a fee blocks from the hustle of Granby streets restaurants and bars. Not mention the proximity to Town Point Park, Harrison Opera House, and numerous other venues-- all with walking distance. That adds up to HUNDREDS of event options all within .5 miles. Such a great location! We're sorry to move!"

"There are a few dog parks in the area and people were genuinely happy to see dog around (depending on the training). People pick after there pets. Besides the dog parks there are great outdoor locations to walk and play with you pet."

"Great quiet neighborhood that’s centrally located. Easy to get to the bases. Military mall is getting torn down and a great development with food, shopping, grocery, and parks is being put in. The city is also putting a lot of money into the drainage system to accommodate that development. So it will be one of the driest neighborhoods in Norfolk. "
