4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis has been a very difficult year at McGregor. Discipline is at a low. Mr. Thornsberry was able to keep things under control but he has not been there for about four years and the current principal seems to be more interested in how the building looks when school district administrators visit than helping staff create a positive learning environment. This must be part of the reason McGregor continues to rank at the bottom of Springfield schools.Other Review11y ago3 Reviews - Parkview High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a current student in my sophomore year of high school. My freshman year was horrible until I got a 504 to let me listen to music during independent work and due to the cell phone law because put in place they made it to where I can't have wireless earbuds and I can only have noise cancelling headphones. For me the teachers were really great I love all my teachers and staff some might say otherwise but they are truly great. But back to the 504 it's hard with lunch and not wanting to set a playlist and just regroup and reset like this cellphone law is actually stupid. But with the caos of lunch I can barely stay in the lunch room without having a panic attack and that is just not the environment I want to be In. The bullies are horrible Im in the Snapchat story and I accidentally posted something one day and people just had so many rude things to say like that's not appropriate and not on the school story either. For learning there are some teachers that just don't care and let you goof off like they don't care cause they are getting payed. With the cellphone law they are just hurting students because they are more worried about devices and other things than actual threats like bullying break ins school shootings and the drug sales and they are worried about phones what the actual heck. But all I can say is they are creating an environment that is toxic full of bullies and fights. For the safety I was in general bio today and a fight broke out all because someone said shut up and another said what are you gonna do about it and a girl stepped in an tried to separate them trying to do the right thing and instead she got in trouble for not letting the teachers handle it like that's not right there was not a teacher in the room and she gets in trouble. And lastly the fact they are more worried about phones than actual threats and serious things is appalling and the school board needs to get their priorities straight and stop worrying about phones. Like yes you can limit them but their is no way that they are going to suspend you for having your phone eventually they have to give up on the law because I think it's absolutely stupid. Also kids with ieps and 504s will get accommodations after you literally have to fight with the school and even then teachers don't follow them at all like they just ignore them like last year I had my earbuds in during independent work mind you and the teach called me outDo not recommend send your kids somewhere elseStudent Review8mo ago13 Reviews - Study Middle School

"Dog owners like that a lot of the houses have yards with fences to let their dogs out and there are sidewalks for walks. "

"I am so happy with all the downtown growth and fun things to do, all within walking distance of this charming home! I’ve lived in the neighborhood in the past and also stayed in this home. Its cozy feel is welcoming. My favorite feature is the porch! It’s especially wonderful to enjoy when it’s raining. "

"I love this neighborhood! You get to know your neighbors as friends and it has a very small town feel. I am really excited for the new Grant Street revitalization project to add a coffee shop and food truck park just a block down the street. We love our little neighborhood! "

"There are a lot of areas to walk your pets in. Many areas are covered in grass with several parks and schools if your pet doesn't get along with children you would need to avoid them. Bring a plastic bag for pet waste.because neighborhood requires you pick up your pets waste and throw it away. "

"I have lived here for three years and this property has gone through several different owners and managers. There is a lot of crime in the area, the garbage is overflowing with used furniture, and it is difficult to get anyone to return my call on maintenance requests or anything else for that matter. "

"Nothing really is unique about this area besides being close to downtown! There’s some cute little shops around the area "

"If you work downtown or attend classes on MSU campus, west central is very accessible. Walking, about 10-15 minutes to either location, but it does not always feel safe to do so. There are plenty of bus stops, and the Bear Line stops nearby as well. "

"Not horrible for dogs but also not the best. You'll notice a lot of strays running around. Many people just leave their dogs out all day and night in the backyard. Lots of barking all day everyday."

"Meth addicts and homeless rummage through your trash daily. Raccoons under your car in the early morning. Loud neighbors. The place can be a dump. "

"This neighborhood is scary. There is a trap house 4 doors down from where I used to live and crime all around you. Don’t chance it."

"It can be sketchy at night. Enticing during the day. Sometimes you see hookers, meth addicts searching your trash, or police at a crime scene. On good days you see a lot of good traffic, and people out having fun. "

"I love the character in the houses that’s why I love the area. What I would like to see happen is that people would invest in the old homes. Like work together with neighbors and request help from the city government to bring north grant back because many of these homes still have good bones! "

"I've lived in the West Central neighborhood almost two years now. It has it's charm, but also has some serious issues. I love that it's cheap, most of the houses are older and have some real charm. The downside is that it's a little volatile. I'd love to be able to go a month without police being called to my street in the middle of the night, or not find needles on the sidewalk when I walk my dogs, but sadly there are a few nefarious individuals that drag the community down. However, for the most part it's a very charming place. The neighbors lookout for each other without being nosy and I plan on staying here until I move out of Springfield. "

"I've lived here for several years now...I love this street, there are many hard working families and homes that are stabilizing the neighborhood...its well within walking and biking distance from downtown coffee shops, theaters, universities, hospitals, the DMV and other government offices, art galleries, unique restaurants, botiques, flea markets, the ice rink, and brewing companies...its a great community to live in where people know your name and say hi! adie"
