My 1st grade student came home in tears, scared and afraid to tell me what was going on at the school. My child had then told me that when students, in the 1st grade, turn in homework late, are made to walk the fence around the playground at recess. This is completely unacceptable and students, especially at this age should not be punished for something as this and not get recess. So many kids come from homes of neglect, and not having their homework on time is sometimes a bigger issue at home that is out of the child's control. I have seen it firsthand working in the school with young children
