"Greenfield Twp is a hidden gem of Lackawanna County. Close enough to shopping areas, but still a great country feel. Fantastic neighborhoods, with great people. Very low crime, and decent schools. Perfect for all families. "
  • Josh B.
"You need to drive everywhere, but everything you need is typically 5-20 minutes away. If you don’t mind driving, then this is a great area to live. "
  • Chris L.
"Great school district. Country living with plenty of land available for outdoor activities. Also only 10-15 minutes out of Dickson City where there are movies, malls, and plenty of restaurants. "
  • Zzima
"Nothing it’s like any other neighborhood ... neighbors not very friendly .. keep to themselves .. quiet area"
  • Sam
"The value of this area is in the lower housing costs and fairly decent schools, other than that, the area is a dull place. I lived in a mid-west state that was growing and progressive. After marrying, I moved here to be close to my husband's job. To find any amenity that is worthwhile, it means traveling to Philadelphia or NYC. If you want a quiet life, with a small selection of good restaurants in Scranton, none worth mentioning in Jermyn proper, this is the place for you. Put your feet up, read a book, walk, watch TV that is about it."
  • Sam
"After marriage, I moved here two years ago from a progressive Southern town. Will convey 'bad' thoughts of Jermyn, PA first, then the goodones. Most of the roads and alleys when you come off Washington Ave. (Main St.) are abominable, deep ruts and potholes. Seems to be no planning or action with the current town politicos to correct this. Washington Ave. is a hodgepodge of deteriorating businesses, with the exception of a handful of stores that are run well and prospering. Questionable types walk the streets. Fire protection is excellent, police protection isvery good and they keep a high presence, so that helps. There are several abandoned homes just sitting, year after year, creating a health hazard, with 'critters' residing. These homes mostly are located between well-kept homes, unfortunate for the owners who take pride in their residences. Where are health inspectors? Overlooking all of the above, the people who have lived and worked in the area for years, are kind, intelligent people, yet nosy, as in most small communities. However, they give it their all when needed or called upon to help. During the day and most nights, the town is quiet. If you keep doors locked in the day and windows closed/ locked at night, there are generally no concerns about safety. Most streets are child friendly. THREE STARS in this area, would be ONE STAR from the town I left. However, we will hang in here for a while."
