4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wasn’t going to write a review, but I saw someone mention High Tech High—and as someone who transferred out of that school, I have to share why Weehawken is better. Here are 5 of many reasons:1. The small-town feel leads to more involvement. At Weehawken, it’s easy to stand out and get involved because you’re not competing with thousands of students just to be noticed. In a school of 80-100 kids per grade, you can join clubs in leadership roles, play on multiple sports teams, and actually feel like your contributions matter. That sense of community gives students the confidence to try new things. I transferred back my junior year, felt like I never missed a beat, and finished with 7ap's and 5 club and sport leadership roles. 2. You can go as far as you push yourself. If you want to take 20 AP classes in 4 years, you can. At High Tech, you have to test into every AP and still aren’t guaranteed placement. At Weehawken, teachers will support you every step of the way. The difference in teaching quality is huge—I had maybe 2 teachers at High Tech who genuinely impacted me. At Weehawken, I had 4 teachers during my senior year alone who motivated me, challenged me, and helped me grow.3. Teachers and staff are accessible. You can stop by any teacher’s classroom during lunch or after school. Administrators know you by name. Guidance counselors don’t just wait for you to come in—they call YOU in to talk about college, scholarships, and your goals. At High Tech, I met with my counselor once in two years. At Weehawken, my counselor made sure I was prepared for every step of the college application process.4. Culture and pride. High Tech felt cold—no sports, no school spirit, no sense of belonging. Weehawken is different. From pep rallies to inclusive sports teams to teachers who show up to cheer for their students, there’s a family atmosphere here. You feel like part of something bigger, and that’s priceless.5. It’s home. I grew up with my friends here. It’s a place where everyone knows you, supports you, and celebrates your success. If you prefer a “corporate prep” vibe, maybe High Tech or Saint Peters is for you. But I’d rather have a school where people care about me as a person, not just as a number on a roster.Weehawken gave me not just an education but a sense of belonging that shaped who I am. I’m grateful every day that I came back here.Other Review7mo ago12 Reviews - Daniel Webster No. 2 Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children came from a private school and started third grade in Theodore Roosevelt School. We have been very happy with the school. Our children were both behind but though help from the school and teachers, they both caught up and our daughter exceeded to get the highest academic achievement by the time they graduated 6th grade. Teachers were very engaged and I got a feeling that they really cared for my children and for their well being both academically and overall in the school.Parent Review3y ago5 Reviews - Check out schools near River Rd.
