East Aurora high school is a very unique place with a combination of unique opportunities. Students have the options to learn anything they so choose from learning how to knit, to learning to become a rocket scientist. As a public school in Western New York, it is one of the best choices in my honest opinion (as a recent graduate I feel I can safely say that). Since it is a small school, learning opportunities are a little restricted, with a lack of courses covering topics that may engage students even further than most. Students have the options to get involved in extracurricular opportunities if they so wish, but in order to do so, they need to try. Lately though, there has been a shift towards left-leaning learning, education, and diversity which has led to a much further lack of opportunity and distinction between students. The administration has been pushing making everyone equal and removing the opportunities to mention or recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond. As a student who I believe has made an extreme impact on the school’s education, experiences, opportunities, and distinction making the school a much more well known place on not just a regional level, but a national level, I can firmly say that the opportunities I would wish for my children were not there until I pushed the administration as hard as I could to provide them. I had to go to extremely out of my way to create a place where these opportunities could be fostered, and at the end of the day, neither I nor the individuals I worked with received the recognition or support necessary to keep the programs and opportunities we created to continue running. I enjoyed my last few years here at the East Aurora Union Free School District, as teachers were very polite, opportunities were created and fostered, and so much had gone on to help create a better place, but as soon as I left I feel it had gone back to how it was before I had came and that there is minimal potential now nor in the future for individuals to be recognized for going above and beyond. All of the skills I learned and the time I invested into the school was only due to personal devotion and interest and would never have been taught within curricula. At the end of the day though, I will always appreciate this school for creating a stepping stone for my future and the community for allowing me to become who I am and supporting me more than most schools would. This is a great school if a student tries their best.

Both of my children have LOVED their experiences at Parkdale. Coming from another district my oldest, who was exceeding in most subjects, found herself behind when starting out. She caught up and is doing great at the middle school. She misses Parkdale though and all the fun she had. The school challenges the students and works with their strengths and weaknesses. They are involved with the parents and community. It's a night and day situation to the one that we were in before moving to the area 5 years ago.
