7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have been sadly disappointed by Sinking Springs EL! Our son's GIEP and 504/Plan are not being followed. (This is a legal issue, if I wanted it to be!). He is able to do high level multiplication, yet at school, they are teaching addition and subtraction, in 4th grade!!! The use of technology is actually a detriment to their education, as students are doing whatever they want on their iPads during class, whether they are to be on them or not! Classrooms and hallways are loud and chaotic and I have seen teachers not aware the of where their students are!! Huge school safety issue! I am glad that we are about to move out of the school!Parent Review10y ago3 Reviews - Hayshire El School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had three kids at Hayshire....best school at Central York School District. (and they are all good). Teachers and principals are very involved and loving to the kids. The kids are well behaved and the atmosphere is one of happy kids everytime I go in. I am always welcome as a mother. I would give more stars if I could!Parent Review15y ago1 Reviews - Roundtown El School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe reviews of parents pertaining to staff are correct. However, no one mentions the Curriculum. My grandson went to preschool and is very bright. He was very unhappy in kindergarden because he thought he was "stupid" because he had to "repeat" everything. he was repeating everything through K and grade 1. I'm told it is because it;s geared to the "no child left behind" program. Classmates in Kindergarten could not even write their own name and mid year were "having trouble with the number 11". I don't think that my grandson is that exceptional, but he could write his name, count to 100, recognize numbers and letters as well as sounding the letters. His mother insist he go to this school (parents divorced) and said he is getting "a good enough" education. Unfortunatly, now in second grade, he no longer is enthused with learning and does not have any pride left in the quality of work he does. The most troublesome thing to me is that the children do not get any type of grade on their report card--only a check in one of two columns "meets school standards" or "working toward school standards" . I can't believe these parents have no problem with this "grading system" .Other Review11y ago2 Reviews - Central York Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBug problem, cockroachs have been found in lockers and on backpacks. Majority of teachers aren't very kind, respectful, or understanding. A severe lack of protection for LGBTQ+ students from discrimination based on their identity; I was called slurs, told to hurt myself, and threatened with violence by other students because I am transgender. The food is alright. The counselors aren't the best, I had religion pushed onto me by one of them. But, it's still better than some schools in the area. I just wish there was more protections for students physical and mental health in place.Other Review1y ago4 Reviews - Central York High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHonestly, don’t expect your kid to be recognized for their handwork unless you’re a school board member. The nepotism at this school district is disgraceful. The high school administrators, counselors, and teachers are busy judging the lives of the student body.Parent Review3y ago18 Reviews - Check out schools near PRINCIPIO Rd.

"There is a dog park in the city and access to the rail trail can take dog walkers for miles. Some rentals don’t allow pets, unfortunately. "

"Easy access to grocery store. Close to main Highways. People keep to themselves in this area. Parking in the street sometimes is challenging since there are not enough parking and too many cars. Police comes around not quite often. Some kids in the area but it’s mostly adults living in this area. And I can’t think of anything else. Too many rooms for rent in the area that could attract not too good people. "

"I don’t like it very much. A lot of jobs are outside of the city and I wouldn’t want them in the city limit necessarily. I don’t like the factories that we do have in the city limits. But just outside the city limits would be nice. And our highways and roads are and have been in terrible conditions for a long time with only the best of neighborhoods getting a level and complete repaving. "

"I have lived here for 16 years and my husband has lived in this area bud whole life except for a few years when younger. We both love the area but quite frankly loathe the WY school district. So much so that it is the reason we are looking for a new home "

"It has its moments but for the most part I would say this isn’t the best place for people looking to settle down unless you live on the outskirts of town in town maybe not so much it’s nice to visit when they have events and stuff but I wouldn’t say living in town for a LONG/ Extended period of time is best for anyone looking to settle down and relax and just live Theo best life and I’ve been living here for 23yr granted that’s how old I am but me and my husband are definitely moving away!!!"

"High traffic areas need to keep young kids away. Street parking can be difficult to get specially on weekends. People don’t pickup after their dogs. Not sure about local schools since my kids are all grown up. But I hear schools are ok in this area"

"There is a lot of drug dealing amongst other things. Plus no one takes pride in keep the street/side walks clean . You can sweep and in less than 24 hours there is candy papers, soda bottles and cans and broken corona bottles. This is not a friendly neighborhood. People steal from your yard . "
