7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughters are about to graduate from BHS after transferring from a charter school their freshman year. They made the decision to come to BHS because of the art and music programs which have been terrific all four years. It's a large school (500-600 per grade) so it is hard to get to know the teachers super well but over the four years I have got involved enough to have met and like all the staff with which I have interacted. Some of the older teachers probably need to jazz things up to keep the students engaged. The students taking honors and scholarship classes are more interested in learning but if they are in a general level class the students tend to be just showing up and not too interested in learning. I would recommend joining the band or choir, taking art and CCP classes to get the most out of your BHS experience.Parent Review2y ago11 Reviews - Herman K Ankeney Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur experience with this school has been incredibly disappointing. As a military family, our children have attended multiple elementary schools, and this has been the most challenging by far.One of the biggest issues is the school’s location. The school is situated in a way that makes arrival and dismissal extremely difficult, and the lack of structure during drop off only adds to the problem. Carpool procedures are not consistently enforced, leading to unsafe and disorganized situations such as parents stopping in the middle of the line and allowing children to exit on the traffic side. With only a short drop off window for a school of this size, the process is often chaotic.Beyond logistics, we’ve also had concerns about the overall environment. On more than one occasion, our children have had personal items stolen from their backpacks during the school day. Additionally, we have found the support for students with special needs to be lacking and in our experience our children’s special needs teachers have not demonstrated the level of patience or support that students who need extra help deserve. The school claims to have a zero tolerance bullying policy, however there appears to be no consequences given to those who bully or behave poorly towards their classmates. We have never encountered this many challenges at a school before, and it has been very disheartening.Parent Review3w ago10 Reviews - Ferguson Hall Freshman School

"We do many neighborhood events such as kids bike parades, fishing derby, cookouts. Halloween and Christmas are huge events."

"Most everyone is respectful around here. Great space for kids and animals around. Some people think neighborhoods are racetracks though. That is the only downfall really. "

"This area is very nice but at least I'm the apartments in the area there aren't as many families. However, once you get into the suburban areas there are great parks for younger and older kids, and a perfect library nearby! "
