"I love living in Poquoson. We live next to the park which is great for watching fireworks, walking the dogs, and watching the soccer games. This city is a hidden gem that not many people know about. It is slowly growing, but it is a wonderful, quiet town. "
  • Thomas.bain
"The annual seafood festival is a good event. It does mess up the traffic, but worth the experience. "
  • Lmog47
"Very safe, kids are free to play outside, ride bikes and roam around. Neighbors look out for one another and neighbor kids. "
  • Bianca Rosander
"Thereโ€™s a Seafood festival, fireworks in the park, fish fries from the FD, small town feel. Quietness away from the busy hampton roads area."
  • Trulia User
"I see dogs often loose around the area. Otherwise very dog friendly great place to live. Havenโ€™t seen any ticks or mosquitoes in my neighborhood."
  • claude shiels Jr
"Halloween is always a joy. But the areas you find during the holiday season with great decorations is amazing for me."
  • Nnvanurse
"Seafood Festival every October. And a Christmas Parade in town down the main road in December. High school football "
  • Starsigma2003
"About 15 to 20 minutes to interstate. My office is an hour to hour and half from where I live. But drive from poquoson to interstate is reasonable. "
  • Trulia User
"Dog walkers are frequently seen in our neighborhood. People are friendly and stop to talk to neighbors if they see them out in their yards or on the porch. This is a nice community. There are rumors that you have to be born here to be accepted but thatโ€™s ridiculous. We are a military family who moved into the area years ago and itโ€™s been lovely. "
  • Starsigma2003
"Perfect neighborhood for families. Quiet and clean. Good school system. Nice size lots and space between homes."
  • Kathyrph
"Community service organizations are joined by many citizens and supported by the entire city. The city council listens to its citizens "
  • Kuchinsky53
"I drive my own vehicle. I work at the Newport News Shipyard which is about a 20 minute commute from here. "
  • Kuhnles
"Great family-oriented community. Virginiaโ€™s version of Mayberry. Beautiful water views everywhere and very convenient to all major highways."
  • Claude S. J.
"Iโ€™ve lived here for over 2 years. I am renting, but one day I would love to purchase a house in this quiet neighborhood."

  • Kathrynmham
"This is one of the safest communities in Virginia and features excellent schools, friendly neighbors and wonderful access to the water. The commute to the base is under 15 minutes, even with traffic. And all is the conveniences youโ€™d find in the city are available with a short drive. Mall, home improvement stores, all of the restaurant choices, Whole Foods, Trader Joeโ€™s, movie theaters, Target, etc. we absolutely love living in Poquoson and plan to retire here someday. "
  • Blsimon
"A lot of people walking sidewalks and streets with and without animals. Reasonable registration regulations. "
  • Chris B.
"Poquoson Seafood Festival, Poquoson Regatta and several Kiwanis BBQ events are held throughout the year."
  • Blsimon
"Great school system. Virtually crime free; no major crimes against person, rare crimes against property that are nuisance, traffic violations rare and minor. No school threats of violence, teacher morality unquestionable. "
  • Kathrynmham
"Poquoson seafood festival is the big local event but there are dozens of smaller things that go on during the year too. Every holiday involves community activity like the boat parade, community Christmas events, Memorial Day festivities and Halloween is a big thing too. We love the small town atmosphere with the proximity to city conveniences. A very warm and welcoming community. "
  • Thomas.bain
"Lots of dog owners walk through regularly. Pet friendly area for dogs. Low traffic area that makes walking them safely a breeze."
