NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur small family relocated to Florida from another state to be closer to our child’s grandparents, for my husband to help with his family’s small business, and overall live in a place with policies we believed would better support our values. We accelerated our move when l (four years of experience as a special education teacher)—was hired to fill an emergency vacancy for a special education classroom in the Santa Rosa County School District. The previous teacher had not returned after the break and this classroom has had several teachers in the last few years. Despite stepping into a challenging and chaotic classroom, I worked hard to support my students—many of whom displayed aggressive behavior—and I received little to no support from administration. Less than few months later, in early May I was let go without cause. I had done nothing wrong. In fact, my dismissal came immediately after I completed a full round of IEP meetings and student assessments, which the school urgently needed. It felt as though I was used to meet deadlines and then cast aside. This decision placed an enormous financial burden on our family. We had just purchased a home near the school, and we were relying on my job to provide health coverage for our family. Since then, I have applied and interviewed with over a dozen schools within the district and surrounding counties. Only one other public school extended an offer. It’s incredibly disheartening to see how little job security is offered to good teachers in this state and specifically this school. At the very least, school leadership and districts should be required to provide a clear reason when terminating an educator—especially when they’ve stepped in during a crisis and done their best to serve students with complex needs.Teacher Review10mo ago5 Reviews - Pace High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is where good ideas go to die. The books are outdated, students are tested on curriculum that is not in their old, outdated textbooks. FYI Google chrome books have been given to each student in Escambia county for 8 years now, a chrome book cost less than a text book.Teacher Review1y ago13 Reviews - S. S. Dixon Intermediate School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey withheld student schedules that still owed lunch money. Meanwhile, there’s plenty of schools in the area that get free lunch for all of their student students.. my tax dollars goes to help support these schools and for them to deny students their schedule is bull .Other Review10mo ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near Parkview St.

"my neighborhood has great access to a major highway which is well-constructed and mail well-maintained also very well patrolled by state troopers. road ranger availability is good if you should have a problem. the only negative is that if there is a wreck time to clear the road seems extended and traffic backs up for miles and miles since exits are so far apart. "The schools are great, and the neighbors lookout for each other in Sundial Estates/Windsor Villas. The Bagdad post office is the friendliest, most helpful post office in the county. The are building a really nice park in phases at the Bagdad mill site (with separate boat and kayak launches, and a dock for fishing). Bagdad has the lowest taxes. "

"I live in historic Downtown Milton and it’s a perfect little small town with everything in walking distance. Friendly community and loads of festivals, boardwalk with the Blackwater river, Imogene Theater with musicians, shows, comedians. Several popular restaurants, Blackwater Heritage Trail runs adjacent to my back yard and is about 9 miles long. Too many things to list. "
