7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a mother, all I want is stability, clarity, and compassion for my child. Unfortunately, that’s not what we experienced here. What should have been a simple, supportive process turned into confusion and stress because communication from administration was inconsistent and unclear.I tried my best to stay in touch, ask questions, and keep my child on track, but I was met with vague answers or no answers at all. Important decisions were made without explanation, and actions were taken before anyone bothered to guide us through what was happening. It left my child feeling confused and overlooked, and as a parent, that’s heartbreaking. My daughter is a good kid, no behavior issues, does well in school and she deserved a smoother transition and a little more care.m and compassion. Families go through things. Life happens. When a school can’t meet a child with even a little empathy, it makes everything harder than it needs to be.We are moving to a district that has already shown more kindness and support, and I hope this school takes time to reflect on how much children and parents rely on clear, compassionate communication during times of change.Parent Review5mo ago10 Reviews - Howland Middle School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis learning facility is the result of its leadership. You can say the same of most any school. Unfortunately, with this one, the foundation is a person who believes an in school education to be more important than any other facet of one’s existence. As long as a teacher or other staff member is present, it does not matter what kind of human being they are. Want to ruin someone’s day with a snarky comment? Nobody will bat an eye here. Disrespect community members? You might get a high five when they walk away. The point is that the people in this building behave like cretins and treat others as subhuman because that is that is the leadership they are exemplifying. If a leader displays kindness, compassion, respect, integrity… little will need to be said in order to have the other employees displaying similar strength of character. Baseness and egotism tend to go hand in hand. This place has so much potential. Some great educators trapped in this cesspool.Other Review2y ago6 Reviews - Howland Springs Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school does not support neruodivergent students. Made my son feel like an outcast and instead of helping him and encouraging him they would just send him home everyday. My son, who was in 1st grade at the time, would state anytime he went to school it made him feel like he didn't want to be alive anymore... A FIRST GRADER! The school kept denying me an IEP meeting until I decided to unenroll my son, then they suddenly wanted to try and get an IEP. The principal seemed to be unphased when I informed him his school and his methods made a 7 year old not want to be alive anymore. Switching school districts was the best thing I could have done for my son. He just finished 2nd grade in a school who loves him supports him and encourages him. I would not recommend this school to anyone with neruodivergent children.Parent Review5y ago1 Reviews - Mines Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageH. C. Mines has been rated "excellent" by the state of Ohio for seven years. The staff and principal work as a team in making curricular decisions. Our students write journals and other types of pieces in language arts, science, social studies, and math. Our guided reading program was instituted two years ago. It is a wonderful leveled reading program that takes students from their current level to a higher level(s) throughout the school year. This new program was a district decision complete with teacher input. Currently the teachers and staff members are preparing for the new teaching standards which will begin next year for grade 3 and all students will be tested beginning 2014-15. The PTO at Mines is very active. They provide programs for the students ie. tutoring, curricular assemblies, book fairs, etc. Our parents are truly partners in our student education. Through the generosity of the parents and community members, Mines has been able to purchase smart boards, hover cams, and amplification systems for our classrooms to aid our students in their learning. There is no doubt Mines is a great intermediate school. It is truly a fabulous schoolTeacher Review14y ago3 Reviews - Check out schools near Park Dr.
