7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe classes are good enough, you learn what's needed and have many resources to ensure that you pass all classes. The teachers are, for the most part, involved and caring. There are some that only have the goal of passing students, pushing them to the next grade regardless of if they turned in a single paper all year, but that is expected in any public school. However, the counselor system is less than helpful. I am a recent graduate, and struggled with mental issues throughout my 4 years. While that is not the school's fault, many teachers cared more to listen to my struggles than the counselors did. I learned by my second year that if you had an issue, you had better luck going to your favorite teacher. I was told by my counselor that she was here to help with school issues, to fix schedules and make sure everyone passed their classes, not for personal issues. She told me she was not "qualified" to help me with the struggles I had, which were not at all extreme. Many people I know had similar experiences with their own counselors. They push mental health in that school all year, through lessons, advisory meetings, etc., saying if you need help to not hesitate and go to the counselors. But when you go, you are met with someone who is supposedly "not qualified" and get turned away after 10 minutes in their office. Why are they there if they cannot handle part of the job description?Other Review2y ago10 Reviews - Tom Hicks Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent volunteer at the school, I've had a front-row seat to the administration's glaring lack of leadership and presence. It's disheartening to see how their absence affects the day-to-day operations and morale of both staff and students. Despite the dedication of volunteers like myself, the vacuum of effective leadership remains palpable, leaving the school adrift in a sea of missed opportunities and unaddressed issues.Parent Review1y ago23 Reviews - Griffin Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI brought my kids to this school with high hopes, just for them to be crushed, the kids bullied my kid past return, and ruthlessly hurt her, but the school punished her when she went to get help because they thought she was “waisting recourses” she went for 2 years and she learned nothing, she was still doing 5th grade math until i her a tutor, after a month of the tutor she was at a 9th grade level, the school is as well in horrid shape, in her 7th grade year a piece of the roof broke of and hit her in the head giving her a concussion, but the griffin nurse told her to walk it off, 1/5 stars, horribleParent Review1y ago10 Reviews - Check out schools near Old gate Rd.

"Very safe, great sense of community, and people live here forever so you know your neighbors for years. People do not move frequently so you do not have to be concerned constantly of who you lives around you. People live at the same house 30 to 40 years, raised their own kids and never leave. Very quiet and very safe"

"Not sure. I do not have time to attend community events due to work and shift schedule. Occasionally there will be a concert in the park that is a nice change and offers the opportunity to get outside while enjoying the local musicians and later stroll down main street and have dinner at one of the many great dinning options that Plano offers."
