9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe’ve had our children at Pioneer School of the Arts for two years now, and our experience has been nothing short of amazing. The teachers truly go above and beyond — they care deeply about every student, communicate often, and consistently welcome parent involvement in so many ways. Whether it’s volunteering in class, helping prepare materials, or participating in events, they make families feel part of a real community. Both my girls are part of the Gifted and Talented programs that are now offered in-house starting in 2026. The accelerated placement process wasn’t the easiest (it never is anywhere), but the staff listened, improved the process, and kept us informed every step of the way. Bureaucracy is rarely fun, but Pioneer handled it with transparency and care. The teachers are wonderfully communicative and visible, regularly sharing photos and updates that help parents stay connected to daily classroom life. The principal, Mr. Jakious, is approachable, engaged, and supportive — he sets a wonderful tone for the school community. The admin team, including Mrs. Jill Barton and Liz Ramsey, is exceptional — always kind, patient, and ready to help with anything from a forgotten coat or lunch box to scheduling and general inquiries. Their friendliness and efficiency make such a difference in daily school life.Starting fourth grade, students can choose a music elective — Orchestra, Band, CPAL, or Choir — while k-3rd graders experience both music and CPAL, which includes learning keyboard skills. These creative programs are a highlight and beautifully align with the school’s arts-based mission. The school also offers enriching programs like Pumathon during recess and countless community-based events that bring everyone together. Like in every school, parents have to advocate for their kids — that’s our job — but here, you truly feel supported in doing so.We made the transition from a Montessori-style private school after five years, initially apprehensive about public schools in Idaho after hearing some horror stories. But our worries disappeared almost immediately. Pioneer stands out for its creativity, arts integration, engaged teachers, wonderful staff and a fantastic PTA that brings it all together. We’re so grateful to be part of this community and can’t imagine being anywhere else.Parent Review1mo ago14 Reviews - Lowell Scott Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm writing this review after a couple of years debating whether or not I should've gone to HR. The honest truth, teaching at this school was an absolute nightmare. The head administrator never checked on me once as a new teacher to see how I was doing. Most the time, she never even answered my emails. We had these horrible mandatory circle meetings which triggered my social anxiety. At the very end of the year, I reached out to ask her if I could get help with something. She proceeded to ridicule me, shooshed me like a child, told me I couldn't get the days off I needed, and also fired me all at once with no warning. It was super unprofessional, I felt so disrespected, and balled my eyes out afterwards and I never cry. I literally had barely talked to her all year. The one time o asked her a question in the hall, she said she didn't know and told me to ask someone else. The bullying is out of control. I didn't even feel safe walking down the hall at times. She was never out there doing anything about it. The students had nothing but negative things to say about her all year. In my opinion, she is a horrible example of a leader and by the way she treated me, a horrible human as well. I didn't call HR because she technically didn't DO anything wrong, it was just the way I was treated, I couldn't leave that school fast enough and I will continue to shun teachers and students away from this school because it will only ever be as good as the leaders in charge.Teacher Review10mo ago20 Reviews - Cecil D Andrus Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFirst of all, both of my kids never had any issues with going to the bathroom or using water fountain and both of them drink and use bathroom a lot :) We have moved to this school from MD where my daughter was at the top of her class in reading and math. When we got here we realized that there are a lot of kids who actually love reading and math/sciences and my daughter noticed she was not the top performer...which was great as she wanted to move up in class and be on the same levels as her new friends. I will add that I heard the same feedback from people who moved from Illinois and California. This school recognizes that kids are at different levels and caters education to various learning levels. It can be challenging even for bright kids. So far we loved all of our teachers. The only concern we have is class size at 4th and 5th grade levels as it's over 30 kids. Parents also get very involved and volunteer a lot. The school through Ada district offers access to online programs for children to enhance there learning at home if desired.Parent Review8y ago13 Reviews - Centennial High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor context, I’ve already graduated. I don’t know why you’d pick this school given that there’s not much that stands out. A large portion of the student body here is also involved in marijuana usage. There’s few good teachers and a portion of them seem to have trouble maintaining composure—I’ve noticed that the front desk staff in particular seem to have trouble with this. On a side note, I wouldn’t be surprised if the school gets highlighted in the press for misconduct related to the special needs students. I’ve had conversations with some of them and they don’t seem to be getting treated too well behind closed curtains. If you want an alternative, you’d probably be better off at a public charter school (a publicly funded school that has more flexibility in its curriculum which also attracts a stronger body of staff).Other Review6mo ago7 Reviews - Check out schools near N Brooklet Pl.

"There is a neighborhood park that offers off leash play hours. Dogs are well behaved and socialized that visit. This park also offers wonderful views, tennis, play equipment and rest rooms. It’s a great place for families with pets."

"My kids were grown when we moved here so I’m not intimately familiar with considerations for children… there are a few streets where traffic is heavy and fast, as well as a few open canals that could be dangerous. I would be very cognizant of these hazards if I had small children and I was looking for a home—find the smaller/quieter streets that are near the open spaces. "
