The Beginning
2000
The heirarchy of cold water points is always up for debate.
Lennox Head, during the winter, with no wet suit is considered cold water. Likewise, Shipwreck Bay of whose name is thought, not spoken is cold water during the summer and winter. Jefferies Bay enters in, and where is Sungold Point, aka PB Point? Perhaps Skip Fryes longest ride, from outside the Pt, to Tourmaline, no cord only to step off on the sand and paddle back out.
It is on a first name basis one begins to consider the hierarchy. Certainly the Queen of the Coast, Rincon ranks at one.
Debate be stuffed: if you put Lennox Head on steroids, bring clean Sunset (tropical) but it does describe the wave, add add low tide winter Windnsea offshore lefts, you may arrive at Pt. Arena
Such is the Surfers life who had cream of the late 60’s. Those days remained the same for many surfers on the increasingly dense coast of Southern California. On early morning days, in July and August, the water warm and the pulse thumping the Outside Reefs would break.
The Reality
Pt. Arena 2018
4 acres on Mountain View Rd, deemed the Banana Belt of the area, mature redwoods and Douglas fir, multiple building sites and120 degrees of clear shot and peekaboo view of the Blue Pacific are reality.
Should your passion be surfing, launching your powerboat, or sitting in your ocean view studio listening to jazz and painting, this location provides those options. Make your dream, the reality.
Located 4miles from Pt. Arena with boat hoist, pier, shopping and dining, as well 40miles from the village of Mendocino and it’s various artisan attributes and period 1880 redwood Victorians you are well situated to enjoy the Mendocino Coast. This parcel has 3 obvious building sites, and all weather gravel access from Mountain View. The Driveway has been stake off the gravel access road, as well the building sites.
Access: Go north on the One from Pt. Arena, 4miles to the right turn on Mountain View Rd. Turn right, go east 2.6 miles. Look for cedar fence with rolling top and painted FOR SALE BY OWNER sign. Pull into the adjacent drive, remove blocks parking area and park directly on your right in the provided pull off. Do not block gravel road as neighbor needs access.
Walk 200 feet up road and find path up bank that leads to red painted/flagged stakes. Follow to upper meadow for 2 prime building sites, the other being down the proposed drive to the north west. Feel free to walk entire property, upper boundary is staked.
Easy access in all weather, unblockable ocean view yet protected from the elements and proximity to amenities make this a prime parcel. And in fact, during the 80’s, jazz great, Dave Brubeck lived just across the road on Mountain View enjoying the same views this parcel provides.
